I cannot land the P-47 no matter what speed I try, I touch down with good flare at 110 Knts and bang the thing bounces in the air and dies on second hit??? WTF is up with this they did NOT make a 2k lbs aircraft with rubber landing gear??? I can land EVERY other plane in the game but this Jug is NUTS. I have been with this sim since beta 1 but if things don't improve soon I will be moving on

you're threatening to leave cos you cant land 1 plane?
'kin 'ell.

This sounds odd to me. I have never, ever had this happen in the P47. I am not saying that you are imagining things, but I never noticed the P-47 having this tendency before.
You have checked all your stick damping? What speed are you landing at? I just cross the fence at 100mph and full flaps, full flair, and it sets down easy-as-pie for me. I think you must have a problem in your setup somewhere... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

2K pounds??

I have not noticed that either. I always land with full flaps, flared, and never let it drop below 110. I don't so much land it as I let it settle on it's own. I also very rarely bounce when I land. I spend most of my time in the Jug. I've only died 3 or 4 times on landing, when there was no damage to it, that I can remember. Almost all of these were ground loops. I think taking a second look at your setup would be a good place to start. I can't think of anything else that would make landing more difficult for you. Good Luck with it.

I was wondering how I could help till the last sentence, " I have been with this sim since beta 1 but if things don't improve soon I will be moving on"
Dissapointed you feel the need to end your issue with such an ultimatum. Good luck.

Heh, I bounce my 109G10 like a rubber ball (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
It seems some planes are more prone to bouncing than others - the A5 and A8 are easier to land gently.
Then again, maybe my finals in the G10 has something to do with it. I dive down, IAS 400 or so, roll hard just before field with full right rudder, deploy flaps and gear while still inverted and then smash the thing down onto the runway.
Have been vulched one too many time on finals not to (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Yak-9 does that extremely well, I remember when I did fly it.. I loved its landing capabilities.
Stable, very easy to fly at slow speeds, slows down very fast if you want to and stops on the ground fast also. (real STOL plane)

Well it could be my setup it certainly is not my approach since I land almost all planes with no problems, as to my last incendary statement as you can see by my number of posts I don't complain often but there alot of things I don't care for in this sim I just keep hoping they will be fixed and try not to squeak all the time I could list a long liteny of things that have been posted by others but why bother I just have to decide when I can no longer get enjoyment out of the sim.

When I flew P-47, I didn't find anything wrong with landing, and I did most of my ditches and belly landings in it (not a single time blew up, not even with harder landings)
To me, P-47 is tough plane what comes to landing and belly landing.

I find using elevator trim full up helps land the jug <K> Key. Also land on the two main wheels don't try a three point landing and get the tail wheel down too.
Also don't forget the Dive Flaps.
Also don't brake to hard.
Also let it coast a bit.

No need for trim or anothing when you land Jug. I think the original poster's problem is high vertical velocity with which he puts the plane on the ground. You can be fly 180, but at the same dropping like a rock, or at 130 with almost no vertical drop - key is to manage your throttle. Chop it to early and you dropping, too late and you have excess of speed.
On my usual approach I drop speed below 200, extend gear and flaps. Keep speed somewhere around 150 and dive towards ground, level off and let the plane sit itself on the ground. This works fine for ditching too.

I do landings usually below 150mph, even if in horry (faster to slow down in the air than in the ground)
If I find that speed is dropping too fast, I add some throttle (too much might flip your plane over or stall it when trims are wrong)
Once I made very rough landing in P-47.
I lost vertical stabilizer and went for a ditch, and I couldn't use engine and I had to find good spot to land - which was pretty hard in that part of the terrain, which was pretty mountaineous.
I made easy touchdown and did not try to break too much (or vertical stab loss might make some fanzy acrobatics), so I had to head over a hill slope with fairly slow speed and after that jump, P-47 came down like a rock to another side of slope, but gears did not break or plane go over.
I bet that any other fighter would had lost its gears and been pancake on that one.
Durability of P-47 all around is simply amazing. (you can even belly land it so that engine is still rolling!)
