Title: White screen of death and reboots
Post by: Getback on December 20, 2008, 02:09:34 AM
Lately I've been getting the white screen of death. I'll post my dxdiag report in the a.m. I think it is either the video card or the sound card. After the white screen the sound seems to go in a loop. It happens more with gvs than with planes. Although once I was in a chute. I use Windows xp pro. Also tomorrow I will check the GPU temperature and may download new drivers. I just wanted to get this posted tonight for some ideas. Let me add that it is an ATI 3850 vc and a xonar dx soundcard.

Thanks for any input.

Try deleting the video8 file in the settings folder. It will rebuild when you restart the game.

I had this go on for a long time.  If drivers, dxdiag and everything else is good, don't give up on your video card right away.  Try increasing your fan speed.  There is software out there that will let you do that.  It worked for me.

Thanks S1n1ster. That's what I'm thinking too. However I did try deleting the video8 files first. Let's see what happens there.

Are you using a custom sound pack?

Are you using a custom sound pack?

No. I reinstalled the game and so far no issues. Although I haven't been gv'ing as much.
