Title: Tunisia
Post by: Oldman731 on December 20, 2008, 12:27:52 PM
For the moment we'll run a Tunisia setup.  You will note that base ownership is a bit jumbled.  We'll tweak it as time passes.

The only thing the Axis have that will catch your B-38 ;) is the A5, and you out turn it so what's the problem?

I don't E fight much, I like to turn and the 202, 109F and 109E all out-turn the 38

Curious why you would do this instead of using the T-34/76?  (Agree the Firefly should NOT be used)

The 75 mm Shermans in use by the Brits and US at this point in the war were roughly equivalent to the Mark IV.  I have very little (in fact, virtually no) experience with the AH2 vehicles, but I have heard that the T-34/76 is generally not believed to be a match for the Mark IV (and this is way too early for the T-34/85).  Figured that if we had to substitute, we might as well make both sides equal.

Having said that, I am very open to put whatever GVs people think should be in place in this setup.

This is why we need the Sherman in game, not just the Sherman Firefly, would fill up so many holes in plane/vehicle sets

The Mark IV we have in the game is a bit late a version for Tunisia, so I understand if you are looking for parity.  But the T-34/76 aside from being faster and not having a pintle is a much better match for the early Shermans in most other respects, especially gun performance.  But whatever works.

The T-34 holds up fine vs the Panzer. Wouldn't hurt to give it a go.

Bases being a bit apart, might make this mostly a land battle, versus air.

Did take the 40E up briefly last night.  Had a couple nice slow fights against a C202

Shame there weren't more than two of us in there.

The small numbers is a self-causing problem.  No one logs in because no one is logged in.

Usually it takes a squad squad of 4 or so to log in before it becomes active.  Last night JG-54/Class Acts was locked in combat trying to defend a base in LWOrange, it was a hoot!  I imagine though it'll pick up, Tunisia is usually one of the more active maps.

I very much enjoy the P-40 vs 109-E/F especially if Dedalos or another good stick is in the P-40.

Weird, Must have missed you buster.  I had a great time, though the flying distance was a bit tedious.   <S> all

I wasn't able to check in over the weekend.  Logged on briefly this morning and saw that people had captured the bases that were originally close together.  Who knew?  So I've changed base ownership around a bit, and you ought to be able to find opposing bases closer together at a variety of spots on the map.

Here's a suggestion:  Once you capture a base, switch sides and capture it back.

Or just disable C-47s/M3/SKDs from those furball bases so if a midnight milker wants to take 'em he has to fly the goon in from somewhere else.

Ya, when I logged in initially a bunch of goobers were attacking the neutral country.  I had fly my 190 100+ miles to get to them...

Is this a new map?  I don't ever remember the bases being scattered like this...  Maybe it's the mad cow though.

Yeah I agree with disabling goons from a frontline base

The map is relatively new, very pretty, and includes more of the Med than the old one.  I think it may have been designed for three-side play, because each of the three countries has a significant number of bases to start.  I apologize that I haven't had the time to go through and change ownership to be more historical.  Hey, it's Christmas time!

Naaaaa  Scores is for the SEA arenas.  The AvA doesn't track much in the score department.
