My son got this one,and it will not start up on my comp..It says it needs a sound card in the specs..Is this true???I have OB sound but no SC..Is he going to need one???
It keeps giving this ERROR at start-up :
Error during initialization:Create2DTexture( $floatz, 800, 600, 0, 114 ) failed: 8876086c = Invalid call

I'm guessing you'd get more help on the tech support forum for that game...
Create2DTexture means it's something related to video. It appears something is missing. Try reinstalling the game and check the disk against a light (hold it up to a lamp) to see if it's been nicked on the label side.
Remember that onboard sound chips will drain a sizable amount of system resources.

Are you trying to give your son ADHD? I played the game for a month and grew tired. The large servers can be insane.

Hence why I only play it on the xBox. :D I'm definetly a greifer though. Triple nades and MP5s for me! ...cept when I'm in the back with the Barret.

I bought the game and later on saw my buddy play it on xbox and its a totally different game play. A lot slower on Xbox. PC is like airstike airstrike airstrike.

The key is to play only on servers with less than 20 players. Anything more than that and it's unplayable spamfest.

I usually look for the servers with around 5-15 people.
But I do get a great feeling when I join one of those billion people rooms and air strike a spawn :devil

I'm part of a community in COD4 which has 8 COD4 servers, 12 CS:S servers, 4 COD5 servers, 2 DoD servers. http://www.noobgalore.us is the site. Personally, I like their 27/4 Creek server as creek is my favorite map and they have the settings I like.

Yeah I know. Kill house is the most retarded map I've seen, ever. You get more kills chucking nades across the map than using a gun.

It's a really good server with strict rule. You can't call in Air strike w/o having UAV. When you have a 29th member on your team, you gotta ask their permission to use any asset. You can't wallspam, you can't spam frag, 203, or RPG unless you see a target (unless you're room clearing, which you gotta rush in once the frag went boom) Ya can't 2nd story jump, can't bunny hopping or dolphin diving to avoid rounds.
Usually 1 or 2 admin playing so they always enforcing their server rules. It's a 32man server and usually it's full. I love it=)

Our NG servers arent too bad. There aren't too many A-holes in there to ruin the game. We aren't strict either. Basically, you can do anything, just no hacking. I'm an admin on the server along with a few others. My favorite set is the Silenced M14 Red Tiger with stopping power, bandoiler and steady aim. My other set is Silenced M4 with double tap, bandoiler and steady aim.
Edit: Forgot to say, we are a community not a clan.

Being a console guy who only plays Merc Deathmatch and Sabotage, I've never played killhouse. I generally find Wet Work (I'm guessing that would be Shipment to you guys. It's the cargo ship from the first combat level in the 1P game) to be absolutely hysterical.

No, Wet Work is Wet Work in PC. Shipment has a bunch of shipping crates piled around in something like a 50 yd by 50yd playing field. It's very retarded, as an airstrike covers the whole map. You don't live more than 10 seconds on that map.

Never tried it, I'm usually either on *USS*, aaaaaHHtoysoldiers (ESAW, great room, no tube RPG marty etc... after lvl 30) or, when it's active, my clans TxM (www.texasmilitia.com (http://www.texasmilitia.com)) but we're more of a CoD:UO clan having the most used server (Our Base Assault: No Tanks). I'll have to check out the 29th :D

Ahh, I played that one a long time ago for some other mode...the last-man-standing style one or Headquarters. I don't remember. That was a pain...funny, but still a pain.

COD4 was fun for about 2 days. It still has nothing on MOHAA. That game was the end all be all of ww2 fps.

this game is crack. I play on xbox when i get the chance, aka my friends let me borrow it. Dude x3 nadr and m5 wah???????????? R700, Desert Eagle, C4, Stopping power and Holding breath thing FTW! OR R700, AK47, C4, Overkill, and Longer Running is almost as good.

Overkill is for noobs, honestly. Heck, I'd rather run around with two pistols. Personally I'd take stopping power, double tap or sleight of hand over overkill.

I overkill a pump shotty and a LMG just so that I get the extra sprint distance and still get to use the LMG with Steady Aim or Martyrdom if I feel like an bellybutton at the time. I think the rest of mine are all single primaries though.

on XBL you need overkill for seek and destroy. on XBL everyone whines about jaugernaut, which i am a proud user.
