The day will be February 28th, 2009. Museum opens at 9am. We had a blast last year and this year we know where we're headed afterward.
Last year we had about 12 show up and they did not regret it. If the day is open come on by! WWII Veterans are always there to share stories. Last year, I chatted with a fellow who flew under Gen. Chenault and regaled us with P-51 tales (he alone flew the 51-B, D, 47 and 38). There was also a B-17 pilot who has been confined to a wheelchair since being shot down and lackluster German Hospital care while a POW.

I was there last year but all of ya was gone. Duhasst and I still had a blast. The simulator was very fun and Duhasst managed to find an airfield and setup a vulch but no one was upping.

how long does it usually last? i'm about 4 hours away but it sounds worth the drive.

We'll be there by 9am and probably do what we did last year. Get there, look around til about 3pm. Then this year, we'll ALL (I still feel like crap LyeEL) eat at Chili's afterwards and break off unhappily around 6-7pm.

Hehe, No sweat. Get me in the city with the traffic and one way streets and it doesn't take me long to get lost. :D I do better in the woods without a compass.

PM me your band info. Wife and I get bored, we'll check you out! One of buddies in my Jeep club is a good local band called "Treatment Bound". I always enjoy broadening the musical horizon.

Open Cockpit Weekend: The WWII Fighters
Join the Air Zoo as we open the cockpits of World War II fighters and give visitors a chance to get up close and personal to them. There is a 200-pound weight limit and you must be able to climb in and out without assistance (children must be able to be assisted by their parents).
The aircraft that will be open include: P-47 Thunderbolt, P-39 Airacobra & HA-1112 Hispano Buchon.
This event is included in regular admission.

Ordering tickets online gets you 15% off. If you were in the military you can get 20% by showing your DD-214 or other proof at the ticket counter.

Nghtmare, badger8, babygotya and myself will be heading to Chili's at 6195 S. Westnedge Avenue in Portage, Mi. around 4-4:30 to get tables ready since we are not making the museum. Chili's will not make a reservation on Saturdays so getting there at that time will have the setup ready for those attending the museum and staying close to closing time. The museum closes at 5p.m. The timing should be perfect. From the Airzoo take Portage Rd. to Milham Ave. to S. Westnedge and find 6195. Feel free to pm me if you want to exchange cell numbers.
