What was the problem with having kills won in less flown aircraft count more than a kill in an Uber aircraft? Sorry if I missed the discussion...
That system would help towards thinning out the endless hoards of Chogs, Nikis and Spits.
Bombers would be excluded, maybe?
Is there some problem that makes this a bad idea???
I miss this feature from the old Warbirds days that allowed me to fly the 109, which had a weight factor of "7" I believe, and a Spit had a weight factor of "1".
Does anyone know if we will get this feature???

If I remember correct, HT has been talking that perk system will work this way..
Less points in 'uber' plane and more points in peashooter.
That ratio system in WarBirds was nice.. changing on that how succesful it was (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

That's part of the perk plane system that we'll be implementing. Perk points will be weighed according to the plane you're flying and the plane you shoot down. Shoot down a good plane with a bad one and you'll get lots of points. Shoot down a bad one with a good one and you won't get much.

In WB at one point there was a system where planes got a score multiplier based on popularity statistics. Planes that a lot of people flew had a low multiplier, while the planes that nobody flew had a very high number.
So guys that wanted to score lots of points would find a plane that nobody used (e.g. Ki-43 or P-38J) and rack up the points. Some guys would still stick with the plane they loved but there were enough "score hounds" to keep the arena populated with many different types. I'd really like to see that here.

Thanks...
Shoot down a good plane with a bad one and you'll get lots of points. Shoot down a bad one with a good one and you won't get much.
Sounds like the AH perk scoring system will be about the same Funked, ie, "good" seems to equal "popular" in AH.
This will be great, it adds a whole new dimension...

I also have always liked that idea.
It would also be cool to multiply points by your opponants K/D ratio.
I.E.
Shoot down Yipsilon when he is on one of his mean streaks and you get 53X points.
Shoot down 19283746 (typical 2 week trial newbie) and you get 0.03X points.

Funked..
That why i got so hooked on the F4F and FM2 in WBs.. Scoring was part of it and killing Spits was the other part (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I love that little plane, plus it could be flown with success when the late war planes arrived. I had a great 5 kill sortie in it that started as a 3v1.. i took em to the deck killed em 2 of them reupped & kilt them. rtb smokin and ditched a mile from my field.
Dog out..

I hope you guys get my point that the WB system was based on popularity data and not some subjective notion of "uberness". That's what made it successful IMHO.
WD I hear you on the Kitties. I became a Bf 110 lover through the same mechanism. If you fly that plane right, it's the Fw 190 of the early war. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Eskimo I like the streak idea too. I played a tank game called "Tanarus" where each player had a "bounty" that was based on the amount of points he had scored on his current streak. If you killed him, the amount of points in his bounty was added to your score. Each player's current bounty was visible on the roster screen, so there was a lot of bounty hunting - one team tried to get the guy with the big bounty while his teammates tried to protect him. It was a blast.

Woooo +) I like that idea Funked.
And have a daily post on the website listing the current top ten bounties +)
Maybe have it apply to the buff that just bombed your city as well +)

Funked,
I do get your point, and I'm pretty sure Pyro will be using AH stats to set the ratios for the planes. I don't think it will be an arbitrary number, but likely based of the relative K/D radio for the plane in question. This will make the number some kind of a cross between popularity and effectiveness.
I think it will work well. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I believe that these weighted point values need to be dynamically undated vice statically calculated. The game should update and modify these numbers at least hourly vice tour by tour updates.
Otherwise players will figure out which plane gives the most points and soon you will have an arena filled with them. This would then indicate that "That particular plane" is no longer less popular and to be likely not nearly as unsuccessful.
Say that the c.202 comes out with the lowest multiple and therefore receives the most point awards. If the modifier does not change you have accomplished nothing toward a weighted scoring system. The only thing you have accomplished is getting an arena filled with c.202's.

Mino, that's what I meant. Multipliers would be based on statistics to date.

An arena full of 202s!
What a great idea!
It'd be like shootin rats in a barrel.
Bring em on!

Heh, no other plane approaches my 190A8 or P47 stats. I'm game! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Pilots not planes kill.
If you are going to weigh a kill it should be for pilot ablity.
Any thing to keep guys trying to improve their scores would help. I mean k/d and per mission. Points are irrelevant.
There are to many 1to 1 k/d guys running around doing suicide runs for one kill.
If a good pilot gets a kill in a crap plane he should get more points vs a dogfighter 1/1 guy.
Why? well if this is a sim the whole idea is not to die.

If it worked in WarBirds, why did they get rid of it?
-
I like the idea. It should send more players the the H2H arenas. There is no score. So there is not much reason to fly something that does not interest you.
-
easymo
i think u wouldn't get more ppl in the H2H arenas...
I think the perk planes should also be an added incentive for players to pay for Aces. Have them unavailable anywhere but in the official HT arenas.
I don't also don't see why, if you get less points for flying the dweeb hog it would make you go fly H2H where there are no points...
