When a bomb 50lbs and over hits the thick concrete on the runway shouldn't it mess up the going and coming? I'm not saying put the field as disabled for any plane just when you're taking off and you happen to be on the side that has been bombed shouldn't it either screw up your auto take off or your landing gears?
For Ex:
The A6M, a worthy opponent if the pilot knows how to use it. But the gears on these certain planes, like the zero are meant to be light/weak because the plane is at no need for a stronger support. Going over the damaged runway would completely make the gears bend and break.
The 109, is also a worthy opponent but unlike the A6M, i think sense it has a solid heavy/strong landing gears, it should be able to go over the bumpy broken concrete without a problem except the fact that the pilot would have his ATF spin him out of control.
If this was requested and put into the game i'd like to add it to the CV's; there runways are made of wood and a plane cannot go around it, so this would disable planes from taking off and landing in a CV.
Please post why and why not to this idea. I think it would make the game more realistic and maybe a bit harder on one side and a bit easier on the other.

From what I heard they had this at one time. All it took was for one suicide JABO with some sort of ordnance to shut a field down. We do not need this feature back.

In WW2, this was done for obvious reasons. In this WW2 game, gameplay would seriously be affected in many negative ways since airplanes spawn on the runways. How convenient it would be for someone to pot-hole the ends of the runways where the planes appear. No thanks.

By suidcide you mean crash on the run way? Bombs dont go boom unless they are 1000ft.- etc., Right?

It can be fixed so that the explosions only work when they are ### of feet away.

What would this do to improve gameplay? Other than allowing one player to ruin alot of
other player's experiences without effort of course.

1 Lanc, 14 100 bombs set the salvo to 14 and delay to .08, and you can kill an entrie runway in one pass. No thanks, it bad enough that we have bombers taking out hangars and ruining a good fight, a runway would be an even easier target for bombers to hit.

Better say no and save yourself, the mob is here.

Bad idea. 1 egg at each spawn point ruins every ones fun. It is already far to easy to kill fights as is.

Wow........
So many people trying to pad their post count on this one.....
What gives me the right to say that?
VERY FEW OF YOU are actually engaged in the discussion. "I don't use them" doesn't really give any sort of input on the topic, nor your opinion of it.
Look familiar? Maybe taking your own advise would be more helpful than a useless reply to a topic that won't be locked but explained to as why it's not a good idea and how it didn't work to well before.
Like they said, I read it was a feature in the past and a total disaster that killed game play.

Yeah, i was tolled that. LIKE RIGHT NOW. Either way, :).

Being told your idea is bad for game play is not trolling.
If you think so you have a long hard lesson to learn.

I heard a staggering number watching a show on the 109 a while ago. If I remember right...it said 2/3ds of the 109s produced were involved in some type of crash on take off or landing. The 109's landing gear gave it a real narrow wheel base, thus causing it to be unstable on the ground.

2 Things to say for this one...
#1... SEARCH...
#2 NO! This would be disasterous! I personally enjoy a little bit of a fight, rather than taking a lanc, clearing the runway, pot holing it, and not letting anyone up from the airfield...
This idea = disaster.

Alot of countries had unimproved strips, particularly early on in the war. As the war progressed
and aircraft got faster and heavier the advantages of paved runways became blatantly obvious.

Both aircraft that you mention were operated out of rough unfinished fields all through the war. Just watching the History Channel shows waves of zeros leaving and returning to rough fields, they also operated off of aircraft carriers and gear had to take a beating. Same for the 109's , most of the airfields they operated off of were dirt or just open fields.
