Retexture the canopies so you see some light scratches/swirls, especially when looking toward the sun - throw in some faint reflections from parts of the cockpit/pilot as well. Maybe that's too much to ask for :lol I thought that if the oil effects are present, adding something like this might also be possible.
I think it would add to situational awareness when you're dogfighting, using those canopy cues for info about position.
Falcon 4.0 has these effects and I think it looks great.

Well, at least you said something I can agree with. :devil
-
Il-2 does this as well. Some aircraft like the F4Fs you can see parts of your cockpit interior reflected.
-
I think it could be implemented - but I don't know what all is involved. I think it'd make it feel a lot more realistic/immersive. Your canopy isn't perfectly clear and reflection free like it is in the game.

It isn't.
Well, you've got me sold. I like the idea.

Actually, I noticed that the RV8 has this the last time I was flying it. It would be nice if it were implemented on other planes.

Good idea, I like it.

Yeah I think you're right - has a slight texture to the canopy to make it feel like you've got a canopy around ya - should do it with the other planes along with a touch of reflection.

I like it :rock

I think it'd help people with TrackIR keep their SA while maneuvering. When I first got my TIR that was the hardest thing to get used to. With the keys I knew which way I was looking because I knew what direction the button/key I was pressing was moving my head. With the TIR I was kind of unsure of exactly where I was when maneuvering in airplanes with a nice bubble canopy with no visual cues to position (until you get a peice of the frame/seat in view), like the '51. If that makes any sense.
-
Hmm, I never noticed a cockpit glass texture in any of the skins, but I'll see if I can try a reflection, I'll post the results.
-
I'd bet it's tricky to get the effect right without overdoing it - give it a shot though.
-
Ya, it would be great to see a reflection of Ben Affleck with a big queer smile every time I look out!

Yeah that'd be stupendous!

My bad, sorry gang; didn't mean to bump this. I was searching for this topic prior to responding in "Eyecandy" and hit reply in error.

Meh..
-1 on this.
In real life you look PAST little light reflections. You focus on details past them. Like watching TV with a window partially glaring on the screen, or driving with a bit of sun in your eyes. You compensate for it mentally and keep going.
In a computer game, IMO, it's frivolous and useless.

so true, kindda like wearing glasses and there's a scratch in one of the lenses, after a few minutes u wont pay attention to it. ur welcome to add you own scratches to your monitor as a test, use a marker put a couple of lines and see how long it takes before you forget they're there.

Never liked this in IL2.
I still maintain this game was more realistic when icons didn't disappear behind canopy supports. So lets not make it harder to see out.
