The allied side has the La5 and F4U, in addition to the P-51B, P-38J, P-47D-11, Spitfire VIII and others. So why does the axis side not have at least one Japanese aircraft? How about the K-61?
-
Good point.
-
because that map has never had japanese aircraft in it. its a mini-euro war map.
-
logged on last night for the first time in a while
looked to me that the axis had the best plane set as it is
had a couple of good fights and one very fun one - low and slow that everyone else stayed out of

This is the same map that was used in the first war scenario. It had the A6M on it then. The F4U1A is on it's not really considered a Euro fighter.

the current map ( one with the channel in the middle) should have at least a a6m2.

I asked soda the other night for the Ki's, but someone who never flies in the arena objected saying the allies had "nothing to counter it"... I didn't want to ague with someone I knew would leave anyway, so I didn't press the issue.
I agree though, the Ki's would be a hoot in this setup if we could get em.

The Allies have the 1A Corsair, and I think I saw Spit9s. If you're talking the KI-61 the P-47D11 is a good matchup, the Ki-84s acceleration kind of handicaps the P-47 IMO. The Corsair fights well against both the Ki-61 and Ki-84. The Spit9 pilots shouldn't complain over either of the Japanese Army fighters being included.

you have the 109f - what else do you need? :)

a G-6!! :D

D-11s, 38Js, F6Fs were allused in the ETO. Now as far as F4U I'm not sure, we should have had one japanese plane at least
-
I can see that the Ki-84 might dominate, but the Ki-61 should fit right into the current planeset nicely.

No I think a Ki-84 would be just perfect actually. Ki-61s wouldn't be used I don't think...they're real underpowered compared to the 109s
-
Ki-61 is handy for the extra cannon, however I miss the slats in turns. Ki-84 would be nice, i don't' think it would dominate though. It could out accelerate everything I suppose.
Wouldn't hurt to just add the Ki-61 and see what happens.
-
Who cares... It's all a cartoon plane set anyway, so add the damn thing
:rofl :rofl
-
The current setup is not intended to be historical. It's simply an 'axis vs allies' setup with no historical reference. The intent was to place a large number of planes to choose from that match up well against each other. The ki-61 was suppose to be added, but was forgotten.

So we can expect to see it tonight? :aok

That was true in 70s. Prices have gone up though.

I saw Larry flying a Ki 61 this morning. I don't know about other IJA/IJN stuff but the Ki61 was there this AM.

I've been driven off the AvA a number of times. It's attitudes LIKE this that do it. Your passive-aggressive bickering really seems to reflect your squadmates' worst traits.
I said that about the Ki84. It would be the fastest plane in the arena and one of the most nimble, giving even the uber-flapped F4u1 a run for its money on even terms. The only reason it's not ENY5 in the MA is because it arbitrarily loses control surfaces at high speeds. At the time the suggestions was MADE, the F4u wasn't even available, either, so the only opposition for the Ki84 would have been a P51B or a P47D11.

Shot one down tonight while driving my Pee38 around Nit lands. Interesting fight when we went vertical.
Didn't see another one the rest of the night.

The F4U was available, I fought Shifty 2 sorties in it. I also later saw an F6F.... I'm not trying to dive you off at all Krusty. I think you could be a valuable AvA member, you just need to understand people have different opinions and that is ok. It doesn't belittle you in anyway. No one's ideas are perfect, we just all have to work together. In the past when I've seen you involved in the AvA, your attitude hasn't been one of 'making it work' but rather...passive aggression. (I'm reminded of the B-26 mission a few weeks ago)
<S> Krusty, I truly hope you stick around this time. We ALL need to work together, and that means we're ALL going to have to check our ego's and issues at the door.
