this would allow a bit more cv action if all ships must be killed for the cv to respawn at its port.
perhaps the cv could be given code to list and smoke after hit until all ships in tg are destroyed. after which the cv would sink. if all ships not destroyed after 15 min the cv would "fix" itself and allow flight operations again.

Great idea, and it would add so much "immersion" seeing that listing carrier with billowing smoke. Only issue, would the listing carrier still sail at full speed with the rest of the ships?

Disagree. Keep the settings the way they are. Main reason, is when you capture a Port and the CV which is still in the hands of the "other" side is cruised way out of harms way to keep it from changing hands. If you have to destroy all ships to reset the CV battle group, the CV action will die.

Hello....
Sure it would be hard to destroy all ships... but I think the idea not bad itselfs...
Anyway we can reduce it too that the carrier only can sink when battleship is sunk? And set the repair time for the carrier to 30 minutes???
Or whats about if the carrier is sunk the country still can control the battleship and the task group only respawn when the battle ship is sunk, too??? I mean with the battleship you be still able to hold down a enemy base...??? mmm
Anyway, a damage carrier should smoke badly, would be add some atmosphere.... also maybe it will come too a full stop or only go 1/3 speed....
I think a task group should be a serios threat and festers idea sound not so bad to me... Its not nice to need a hour to get the group into position and than take out so easily....
But thats only my opinion, anyway, I like the idea...
And do not flame to me, its hard enough to be a german.... :D

Interesting line of thought. Suppose:
The CV could be sunk with an overwhelming amount of ordnance - say 20k - but could be progressivly disabled with less in the following ways:
1. fuel available for planes diminished by 25% for each destroyer killed.
2. Ordnance available for planes reduced to nil once CV hit by 15k of bombs (and/or equivalent shellfire)
3. Speed of CV group halved once hit by 15k+
4. To cause a CV to respawn, both CV and BB need to be sunk, *or* the CV group is returned to a friendly port. If so returned, the CV then respawns at that port. The advantage of this would be to add to the difficulty of recapturing a "lost" CV, and to give the nation that "captured" an NME CV some independance from having to own the CV's "home port". Perhaps, the CV's should be able to have some "re-arm" type spots (only larger!)where damaged/incomplete CV groups can be repaired? Obviously the CV group would be unusable for the ? 15 min ? duration it was "in for repair".

As it stands, CV groups are too vulnerable to their position being given away and bombed, making them in effect only capable of one contested field capture. This would help

theres a flip side to that coin.
if the cv is tougher the enemy will risk using it to retake the port instead of hiding it

Good idea Fester
I agree.

Great Idea's. I like them, HT make it happen. :)

one down side is that peoplw could use this 'feature' to game the game.
just sink the carrier and tear up the convoy then leave it alive so a new carrier can't respawn
-
Not if they return the fleet to a "resupply" area.

good idea fidd, that would work

love the Ideas this may even make teams apply logic to cv ops ...
I would like to see the lvt spawn range increased so we could keep a TG off shore like 25 miles or so instead of rambo'n to the shore.... :)
