Title: So who what that little kid that told me Penn St. would beat USC?
Post by: Ack-Ack on January 01, 2009, 08:02:23 PM
I guess you were wrong kiddo...

USC 38
Penn St. 24

3rd Straight Rose Bowl victory for USC.  Only thing the Big Ten showed today was that they are big in name only, not in skill.

Big Ten football play style works great during the regular season when they play conference games or push overs.  But when they go to the bowls and play the ACC, SEC, whatever....they can't compete.  Unless the adopt new play books, don't listen to the hype.  I'll leave it to the Big Ten to produce good NFL linemen (for the most part).

USC is not that great.  they where up 31 - 7 at half time and only score 7 in the second half while PSU put up 17.  and PSU coach not with the team on the sideline.  if i was USC, i would be not talking so high and mighty after that game.

The game was effectively over after the 2nd quarter, at no time did Penn St. ever challenge the Trojans for the lead afterwards.  USC rolled over Penn St., dominated them on the field.  Sanchez was pretty much able to throw the ball to whomever he wished to at will.

Whether or not Paterno (sp?) was in the coach's box or the sidelines is a poor excuse for them losing.  I stand with my original statement, the Big Ten is big on hype, short on skill.

Also, for the person that said the Pac-10 was the weakest conference, name one conference that went undefeated in bowl games this year other than the Pac-10...

I wouldn't say the "Big Ten is big on hype," since its the sports casters flabbing their jaw like there's no tomorrow.

They smacked Penn State the entire game. The only reason the score wasn't in the 50's to 60's was SC was shortening the game by going to a softer defense and using plays that burned more clock on offense.

They could have run the score up as high as they liked had they wanted to.

I wont say that Big Ten is the best either.  Yea, they are undefeated in the bowl game but with only one game that was the hardest, OU-OSU.  I am really surprise how SEC is doing so far.  I had the impression that they are the best conference.

Besides, a conference will have a its good years and bad years.  The past few years is the down times for Big Ten.

they soften there defense in the bowl game.  :huh  Not a good way to help your self to get a high ranking when you let a team put up 17 in the second half.

Give me a better reason why USC suck it up in the second half.

You need to learn to comprehend what you watch.

You do realize that they can not be ranked any higher than third no matter what the final score is,right?

Who honestly cares? I like football, but the only thing I've ever seen it do is inflate egos and start fights. I don't watch football, and when I do, I'm almost never motivated by it.

you're just upset because you're always picked last for a team.  get over it.

No ack-ack, I just think enflated egos are lame. Especailly when you point out the facts, and it starts fights. You know, the whole Jock vs. Everyone else at my school thing kind of happens. I'm chill, so I don't ever get in fights, and I try to be friends with everyone, but outside of my highschool football games, which I rarely go to, football is lame.

Its the dam BCS system that really mess things up.  There are teams that shouldn't be playing the BCS championship.  Case exsample, Ohio State vs LSU in the National Championship.  Why OSU was in it i don't know, and i am a buckeye fan.  Yet, here is Ohio State playing Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.  Texas will walk all over them, far better than what USC did to PSU.

Actually,I may be wrong about the bcs.But you are wrong about about the AP and USA today.OSU finished 5th and 4th respectively in the two polls you listed last year post bowl games.

If you hate football so much, why did you even post in this thread?  It's not like you couldn't tell what the subject was before you posted.  I guess it's just a case of you hating football but love trying to create drama.

Football has turned from a "game" to a money pit, as has baseball.

And to be frank, ack ack, you wouldn't be as cocky as you are now if USC hadn't have won.

Yea, that is what the BCS is all about.  the big confreance (big 10, big 12, SEC, PAC-10) get the money. How much did LSU get for winning the national championship last year?

Sheer ignorance.

I presume that you believe that winning 4 Rose Bowl's in the last six years isn't that great.  Or the fact that USC absolutely crushed their opponent in their BCS title game in '05.  How about their Heisman trophy winners, they've had three since the turn of the century.  I guess their .700 winning percentage means nothing.  ESPN citing them as the #1 team for the decade between '96-'06, I presume that's meaningless as well.  I'm not a fan of USC's, but I'm not completely blind to their dominance on the football field, and will not say that they aren't a good team because I'm not a fan of their program.

I'm glad you're not USC.
