Title: Pathetically Quiet Mic
Post by: Lukanian-7 on January 02, 2009, 02:17:20 PM
My microphone is pathetically quiet. Normally I use it for recording, and when I do I have to add amplification. So I got fed up and bought a GigaWare mic, and it's no better. Assuming it's my computer I went to the control panel and the sound settings and set all Voice and Microphone inputs' volume sliders to 100% and checked gain, and it's still not quite as loud as it should.

Any suggestions?

Go back to the Volume control and go to File -> Properties.  In this window, check the 'Recording' tab and then check mark below different recording channels.  Then check the volume levels of these.  The Voice and Microphone inputs you were changing to 100% were the playback levels, not the actual recording levels.

Is the +20db Boost selected in your recording advance properties? This can cause it many times.   :salute
