Title: Earthquake in Afghanistan (1am local)
Post by: BlueJ1 on January 03, 2009, 02:42:36 PM
Just had a fairly decent size earthquake here. Shook all my junk and woke everyone who wasnt awake up. This country just keeps adding to the list of not making it a tourist destination.

... Wow. I just found this.

There's an "earthquake storm" going on in Yellowstone Park. Since the 27th of December there's been over 500 earthquakes.

And a map of earthquakes over the last week...

You realize Yellow Stone Park is considered a potential super volcano? About every 600,000 years a huge eruption occurs there. Enough lava and ash is erupted to cover the entire U.S up to a meter. It has been approximately 600,000 years since the last one. Enjoy that thought next time you hear about an earthquake near Yellow Stone. A long shot in any one lifetime but its very real.

When it does 'explode' (erupt) Canada will be closed for business the UAW will be blinded and it will probably be perpetual winter for about three years. The sea level will not rise one inch even with carbon dioxide levels at a record high in human history.

No clue what will happen to Afghanistan.

Something must be  true in Mayan calendar for 2012, the earth axis are displaced every 10k years, and the Solar System may get close to that point in Galaxy again.

Isaiah 24.1 -------- "Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof" (Isaiah 24:1).

The world is supposed to end in 2012 :noid

and I'd be pissed if I die a horrible freezing death from a super winter, or burn alive from hot ash!  :furious

You'll be your own military once you start to have to shoot looters.

Maybe a small comfort, but if it erupts and if you have problems with your stomach you could eat some of it. You may die from exposure or whatnot but you wont have to run to the toilet every minute while you wait  :)

And zombies.

Dude...

I've GOT to tell this one. True story.

I have a friend out here, who is completely insane. His father was a 'Nam vet IIRC. The back-story: They used to live on Lana'i. His mother divorced the father I think because he was insane. The father WAS a pilot. They spent all of their savings on a plane. The father flew it around on weekends, and I don't know exactly how, but he crashed it here on Oahu. Now being completely broke and with their only way home crashed, they have basically set up camp here. Or so he tells me. Take the above with a grain of salt. The rest I have witnessed with my own eyes:

The kid is now a skydiver (Not entirely legally). He WAS going down the path of piloting, which is how I met him, but sadly he strayed. His father is the "controller" at the Dillingham field Unicom. As long as I have known them both, they have been 100% that the storyline of Resident Evil will come true. They genuinely think zombies will attack. And to prevent this, they have made their "home" in a pair of shipping containers, in an old world war two hard-stand. Its basically a bunker. They have contingency plans for a zombie attack and have actually fashioned barricades they can hide behind while beating back zombies. (Oh yeah, the son is home-schooled by the way). This was all bad enough. But it gets worse. The military does a lot of training in the area around the field (Live fire, I believe) and the field itself is used at night for army helicopter training. Well, these two go walking out in the bush and bring back whatever the army leaves behind and try to fashion it into defensive weapons (I've seen just crates full of ammo and IIRC a single grenade, but I dont know whether that particular weapon is active, and I havn't seen any other explosives). Ive see what seems to be a 75mm shell, and just recently, they have purchased several guns. Yes, the two guys who actually think zombies will attack, now posses an old Japanese WWII army rifle, and a fully-automatic, folding stock AK-47. I wouldn't have believed him if I hadn't seen them myself.

So, if zombies DO attack, I know where to run! lol. This is just proof home-schooling and living in a shipping container is NOT good for a kid. Just as a visual, I pulled these pics off of google maps, and labeled everything I recognize. This picture is quite old, as there are now 3 more containers in front of the "compound" and about 10 cars and 3 planes in various states of disrepair scattered all over the grass.
