Title: Most realistic sounds...
Post by: Yossarian on January 11, 2009, 09:27:28 AM
Ok, the title's a bit of a misnomer.  What I'm actually wondering is which of the soundpacks contains Spitfire sounds most like the ones here:

Thanks,

Sketchworks 2009 Soundpack that Sketch and I created have pretty realistic engine sound for spit.  Most of the sounds from this pack are from within the cockpit.  Other soundpacks tend to use external sounds.

How similar do external sounds sound compared to cockpit ones?

And also, which of the other sound packs would you say contains the best external sounds for spits?

It's according to how far away externally that the sound is being recorded I'm sure.  The link to Sketch's soundpack is in my sig.  Check it out  :aok

No Doppler...just 120db of racket.

My packs use high-fidelity recordings from actual aircraft, both inside and outside the cockpit.

Normally they're a bit muffed since it's inside the cockpit.

Mitsu's merlin and griffs sound great, the mossy with mitsu's sound is what feels like home to me. All the packs mentioned that i have tried are very good. Dont anyone forget Waffle's pack from years ago, his effects on the engine sounds are probably some of the most realistic i've heard.

i grabbed them all and played around,  Prefered Fruda's start stop sounds for the most part (can't wait for any axis ones from him),

Spent most of my time on the spits before getting a little bored.

Used mitsu's 20mm,  for the mossie i went all mitsu as it needs to sound badass,  With waffles as the overall base pack with adjusted 50 cals, puffy  and tank shells,

My best advice yoss is to do what I did and mix and match what you prefer,  I also have national check sixs for certain planes. If you have ample time away from playing online i'm sure you can come up something pretty neat.  ;)
