Title: ankle-biters, beware
Post by: soda72 on January 13, 2009, 10:22:04 AM
Has anyone heard of ankle-biter before?

I couldn't help laughing when I read this qoute, so discriptive but true...

 :rofl

Same as ankle-humper

not quite.  an ankle-biter hasn't acheived the ability to hump.  an ankle humper is one who can't quite hump your leg.

an ankle-biter (also a "rug rat",) is more or less a "baby" who hasn't learned to walk (code, in this context) yet.

Yeah, I've seen ankle-humper used many times on this board, but haven't seen ankle-biter before.

The director who made the qoute most likely has a PhD in math or computer science.  It seemed a bit out of place for someone in that position to use such a term...

I've always heard ankle-biter reffering to the effective ferocity of what I normally call 'yap yap' dogs.

chihuahas, poodles ( not standard ), pomeranians, ..other toy dogs.

My uses for this term are generally completely unacceptable in most social situations...  I've always preferred this term over ankle-humper though.   ;)

Yeah, I expected to see someone drop kicking a weiner dog or something.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ankle-biter

and

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ankle%20biter

"ankle humper" as applied to AH would be very similiar to this

4.  ankle biter   Someone who cannot rise to your level, and who can only bite your ankles instead of being able to really bite your head off.

(at least when i coined "anklehumper" way back when :aok , which in itself was a play on a kill macro by someone in AW that I never really encountered, pre-1998, "subby"  who used to say "arp! get off my leg!" -   "hump my leg" > "hump my ankle cuz ur not good enough to reach my leg" > "ankle-humper" = which has taken on several meanings here in game and on the forums.

Oldest refernce I could find on forums:

And one from a few months later that, ironically enough, I re-experience firsthand all the time.  :aok

Shane... "typical ankle humper, you get your ### handed to you first via planes, second via text and then you run off making one last feeble attempt at an insult before proudly announcing a "squelch."
