Well as I started with AH in December 07, I had no framerate issues at all. I have always had all settings maxed out with 1024 tetures, at 1440x900.
Back then, these settings were always good enough for at least 60 fps in heavy action (lots of planes, ack fire, burning buildings) and well over 100 fps in a low action enviroment.
However, right now, with the same settings, i do not even get half of that, meaning around 60 fps in the low action enviroment and dropping to about 20-25 frames in heavy action. At least in the latter situation, it hampers gameplay to a point where it is not enjoyable any more for me.
I am not sure what the problem could be, since i never really cared of the "things behind" when AH was running well and if there is any difference to then and now.
First off, I know since Dec 07 there has been 2 or 3 game updates, with the possibillity that each one made the game more hardware demanding. But then again, a FPS drop of more than 50% on average seems way too high, and I'm sure others would have noticed it also. So I think the problem is somewhere in my system.
System Specs:
Intel C2D E6300 (1,8 GHz)
2 GB Ram
X1950Pro (256 MB)
Now I read here somewhere that AH should really make good use of both CPUs, however, when logging the CPU usage with the Task Manager, during play, both CPU get only used to 80% max, on average even lower. Is this ok? Seems like there is quite a bit of CPU Power unused that could help with the FPS problem...
Anyway, any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Do you keep your system clean of spyware and such. It also could be that you've added new programs that run in the background. Kill as many of these programs as possible. You can use FS Autostart for this. There are others as well.
Good luck!
