...shoe thrower seeks asylum in Switzerland.. :huh

-
Fifteen years does seem a little harsh...
-
Well, he shouldn't thrown the dam shoes at somebody that has such a high power, even though he deserve it.
-
BS
Why would he have anything to fear in prison for what he did, from the other prisoners anyway. They'll probably consider him a hero in there and throw him a party.
wrongway
-
Might keep him from having kids as stupid as he is. That would be a plus.
-
Did anyone else notice how qickly Bush dodged the shoes though?
-
Despite my low opinion of Bush, assaulting a foreign head of state should be a serious crime.
-
All that mountain biking has given him cat-like reflexes.
-
My problem with Bush started and ended with his lack of handling on the border issues. At least he pardoned the 2 ex-border guards today.

he dodged a lot more than a shoe

like death ?
-
If he had done that while in the US.....?
If he hadn't been shot by the Secret Service the second he threw the first shoe, he would be doing serious federal prison time. He'd be dropping more than his shoes.
Switzerland? This clown wants to go to Switzerland now? :rofl :rofl :rofl

You mean punishable by death? No, that would not fit the crime, and I am categorically against the death penalty.
-
I was ironic , 15 year is about 15 time more than the max I would see him sentenced.
-
I'm all for the death penalty. Not in this instance of course. I see housing killers and murderers kind of like building a house for your garbage.
-
If this was during Sudam times, he wouldn't be so lucky to get only 15...

Agreed.
Personally, I think this guy should be tossed in jail for a few years. Granted, all he did was throw a shoe, so there was no intent of murder, but he DID attempt to assault someone, and that someone WAS a very high up government official.

I agree, it is harsh, but part of me is also saying "he threw something at the president of the United States... in Iraq... he's lucky to be alive". Seriously, it was only throwing his shoe(s) to make a statement, but the dimwit could of chosen a better time and place to of done it (like a country where he wouldn't potentially be hauled off as an enemy combatant and locked away indefinitely on some island nobody that he knows has ever heard of).

The French sold Saddam all the weapons he could pay for, even built his first reactor in exchange for a 23% stake in Iraqi oil, "Israelis destroyed it", and yet they applaud the Bush shoe thrower. Oh they are just precious arent they? Like butter wouldnt melt in their mouths. They backed a Dictator who killed Iraqis by the millions and applaud the shoe thrower?

Do you really want to start something like that ?
Think of Reza Shah ,Diệm ,Pinochet and the like, every country has a skeleton in the closet.
-
just imagine:
1) going to press conference with the attempt to harm the President of the US
2) having the balls to throw both shoes at him -> but failing to hit
3) being lucky not been shot by secret service
4) sent to prison and someone breaks his ribs :huh <-why should someone do that? Maybe someone who likes Mr. Bush? in a iraqi prison? no way! Must be a other reason.
5) facing 15 years in prison :aok <- for denouncing Mr. Bush on live television as a “dog” who had delivered death and sorrow there from nearly six years of war and then on the other side don´t stand for for it, but instead start whining about 15 years in prison?
6) seeking asylum in Switzerland to work there for the UN??
boy, this coward should face the penalty for what he did.
-
So if you guys think 15 years (or any jail term) is fine for lobbing a couple of shoes at a some bloke.
What should all of the different protesters be getting for throwing eggs and tomatoes at them.
I dont think I have ever heard anyone get locked up for years for these, does it matter if it is a particular piece of clothing or are food stuffs less offensive?

The Secret Service should have seen it coming when a guy signs in as Al Bundy.

Wonder if he stepped in any camel crap before he threw 'em...
And that duck sure looked well executed! Wonder if George did it in front
of the mirror over his terms to keep practice..
If I ducked like that, I'd probably wrench my back.....lol
-
If he doesnt like his shoes that much to throw them away. Make so he can't wear shoes the rest of his life. hehe :P
-
The guy is afraid people will attempt to make him a martyr. I say sure let him go to a neutral country and serve his prison time there. If he didn't want to do the time the crime calls for he shouldn't have done it. And iirc throwing shoes in Iraq is considered a very large insult.
