:rofl
I just heard on Rachel Maddow's MS NBCshow that if we travel abroad we may be viewed as war criminals if we don't prosacute.
This sweety and Olberman are funnier than John Stewart and Colbert!
Americans: Do y'all agree with this sentiment?
Foreigners: What do you think?

I think we should quit giving handouts to all the beggars.

Don't prosecute what?

Foreign opinions of our actions more than likely.

Why will there be war crimes on me? What have i done?
Wait till Bush administration is over. I will not be surprise that there will be war crimes on some member.

Like some member of this board who picture all the Arab as terrorist, it's likely that some idiot of the same kind elsewhere will picture all American as bush follower.
Human nature I think

Not my best writing but I do have a pretty good slug of cognac in me right now. :)

Well...this is a first :O, but I definitely agree with Shuffler :aok
I will also take a side order of "If we did something some other country didn't like---but in the end it made another country free and allowed them to vote and have a democracy for maybe the first time---then maybe it's worth the lumps." On a second plate, on the side, please.

I thought they already viewed us as war criminals. Hence the cut off heads on video. Airplanes into buildings. Old men in wheelchairs shot and thrown into oceans...ect...ect...ect.

This is what I want to do to myself when I hear, see, or (God forbid) think of Rachel Maddow
(http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/blog_mass_destruction/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/insane-people.jpg)
I seriously believe she is a hermaphrodite with some really messed up hormonal imbalance.. I wouldn't be surprised if she was on 20 different
anti-depressant/anti-psychotic medications to help her deal with herself..

Off topic but,
Talking about that, I was wondering how much USA owes to which foreign countries. I'm not sure I'm reading that right, but does that means that USA has the world's largest "foreign" debt? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2079rank.html (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2079rank.html)
... and that most of it is due to China and Japan? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt#Foreign_ownership (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt#Foreign_ownership)
Foreign ownership
A traditional defense of the national debt is that Americans "owe the debt to themselves", but that is becoming increasingly less accurate. The US debt in the hands of foreign governments was 25% of the total in 2007[35], virtually double the 1988 figure of 13%.[36] Despite the declining willingness of foreign investors to continue investing in US-dollar–denominated instruments as the US Dollar has fallen in 2007,[37] the U.S. Treasury statistics indicate that, at the end of 2006, foreigners held 44% of federal debt held by the public.[38] About 66% of that 44% was held by the central banks of other countries, in particular the central banks of Japan and China. In total, lenders from Japan and China held 47% of the foreign-owned debt.[39] This exposure to potential financial or political risk should foreign banks stop buying Treasury securities or start selling them heavily was addressed in a recent report issued by the Bank of International Settlements which stated, "'Foreign investors in U.S. dollar assets have seen big losses measured in dollars, and still bigger ones measured in their own currency. While unlikely, indeed highly improbable for public sector investors, a sudden rush for the exits cannot be ruled out completely." [40]
In 2006, the central banks of Italy, Russia, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates announced they would reduce their dollar holdings slightly, with Sweden moving from a 90% dollar-based foreign reserve to 85%. [41] On May 20, 2007, Kuwait discontinued pegging its currency exclusively to the dollar, preferring to use the dollar in a basket of currencies.[42] Syria made a similar announcement on June 4, 2007.[43]
A list of the foreign owners of U.S. Treasury securities is listed by the U.S. Treasury:[

Too bad to see him out of office and the iranian nuclear facilities still standing. Bush was last hope to deal with them, i believe he would have bombed them but too many were against, only future will tell who was right and wrong. But now, nothing can stop them , we are going to see Hezbollah fanatics armed with nukes in next years; Obama looks weak, without experience and manipulated by those old sharks around him, Israel has no power to do it ,and those timid naive europeans politicians want to fight evil with pen, paper and UN resolutions.

I wouldn't worry too much about that Iranian Nuke Program. $10 bucks says that it gets flattened 2 weeks before they get their first bomb.
The rest of your post is VERY interesting---and very accurate, and reflects a time before WWII where some thought they had "Peace in our time".

'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.'
"Notable Quotations from George Santayana, Life of Reason, Reason in Common Sense, Scribner's, 1905, page 284"
Since history has a really weird way of repeating itself look out for something big in 4-8 years. My grandfather told me that this time period reminds him of the Depression in many ways. The only reason we aren't seeing massive failures is the current ability of people to live off the credit cards for a while in hopes of coming back to the top. Remember most people who worked didn't really use a bank until AFTER the Depression and many didn't know what credit as we know it was until the last 40-50 years.

Don't prosecute what?
Dang, srry bout that mistake. That really makes the post weak.
They were talking about Bush and any others that lead us to war being prosecuted.
Of course, I am assuming they were not including those democrats in Congress that voted to go to war. That wouldnt be MSNBC's style.

Dude, I'm sorry. I still don't get it.
You said this in relation to travelling to Iran:
"...we may be viewed as war criminals if we don't prosacute"
Who is "we"? Who are "we" prosecuting?
-
cheney are rumsfeld are criminals, so yes, they should be prosecuted.... war profiteering.... it's illegal...

I never said anything about Iran.
My inital post was confusing because I didn't define these people were talking about prosecuting Bush.
My post was reffering to an American news show talking about Americans traveling abroad. They assumed that if The American Government did not prosecute President Bush and other people in power including Vice president Cheaney for war crimes etc., then American travellers in foriegn countries may be treated as if they themselves were war criminals.

I guess I am guilty too then because I bought stocks that I knew would do well during the war. I suppose its time to turn myself in.

At that time there was only one company specifically setup to do the work they needed done.

LBJ made a fortune from the same outfit during the Vietnam war, "before your time right"? But nobody was screaming for his head. While your at it take a good look at whos filling the Clintons coffers. Blackwater is a big contributor, "Oh I forget these are soft money campaign contributions" right? :lol Its not that I disagree with you. Its just that voices like yours are strangly silent when "your guy" is making the $$. Course LBJ and Billary knew/knows that you can stick up a Brinks truck with the left hand as long as the right hand is clenched for civil rights. Remember, "The bigger the Lie the more they believe".
Im going to bow out cause this one is bordering on the Political. But I'll say this. Your hero came up thru one of the most corrupt machines in the world. "They" are the ones that made him. Not you! And the bill is going to come due.

I understand it has happened with everyone, power corrupts all, I was just venting at the two most recent guilty parties, wont do anything though I know... I wish the president was my buddy so I could be pardoned for doing anything

The journalist must have just made a lucky guess. No source or anything....
And, Richyo, No one screaming for LBJ's head? I figure you mean just because he was making money. I mean, he did decide to not run for a second term for some reason.

It was Robert Novak. He was interviewing Plames husband who is protected by the spouse exception and whether intentional or not let it slip. Whether Libby also let it slip was never established but he was the fall guy after he made a mental slip in testimony. You dont have to lie under oath to be found guilty of perjury anymore you just need to make a mental slip. Libby was conflicted with what he knew he could say and what he knew and so he was crucified for a mis-statement. Novak somehow got a pass and I still dont understand that but it was he that wrote about Plames identity.
Plame was a 'disposible asset' anyway and she never had the natural resources to be more then a message courier but as a covert opperative her identity should have been kept secret. She is well suited for the search for 'victim compensation' that has become popular in our courts.
Somehow this part of Wilsons interview received more attention then the fact that he claimed to routinely take SR71 flights.
-
Time Magazine emails turned over to a grand jury show Rove leaked CIA Operative Valerie Plame’s name to journalists after her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson, went public with claims the Bush Administration knowing used false information to justify the invasion of Iraq. Plame, until the disclosure, worked as a covert operative for the intelligence agency.
it was a whole big mess but Rove was involved and proved to be involved and it was covered up, its long been done and over with and nothing can be done by anyone so I was just mentioning it, i dunno why you'd defend the guy
-
I dont believe thats accurate. Rove was a political advisor and not a member of the intelligence community. He had no way of knowing unless her husband also revealed this to Rove and I doubt he would be disclosing secrets to a conservative. This was just a ploy to bring down Rove by linking him to a controversy that was getting attention.
