I posted this in general, because apparently I'm blind, and couldn't see this forum, though I was sure it existed... Anyway...
The gunsight on the G6/G10 is very, very small, which greatly reduces its effectiveness. Any chance we could get this enlarged next patch?
Thanks!

Yanno, I have to agree with him, the sights on these two aircraft (and several others) is far smaller than the normal gunsight size and is tough on the eyes.

Hit F8.
Hold down the up arrow key for a while.
Hit F10.
Look, it's bigger. :)
-
It's a workaround, but doesn't fix the underlying problem.
Besides, at least in the 109's that causes the canopy frame to block a large amount of the foreward view.

I don't want a smaller field of view, I want a larger reticle. The nice wide field of view is what makes AH such a step up from some of the other games out there.
-
Moving your viewpoint forward does not alter the field of view.
Is the gunsight actually smaller than in real life?

"Is the gunsight actually smaller than in real life?"
Cockpits aren't historical anyway.
The 109F and I think G2 are fine, the G6 and G10 and some other planes have a small sight for some reason.

Of course it does. While the actual viewing field doesn't change, the closer you get to the instrument panel, the less useful viewing space you get. Having to move closer to the instrument panel, and losing 'peripheral' vision puts me at a disadvantage to people who have a gunsight that doesn't require this. The sight on a 109 might well have been smaller than that on a P51, but we are dealing with computers, and limited resolution, so a smaller sight becomes nearly invisible.

Kratzer, Funkedup is right. Moving the viewpoint forward/backward with arrow up/down does not change the FOV. Try it on the runway, by moving the viewpoint and observing how only your plane/vehicle seems to move in relation to you. Notice that you don't loose peripheral vision.
Now, try zooming. You will see that the objects around you get bigger, but you loose peripheral vision.
I have personalized my views so that there are as little of the cockpit frames in the view as possible. Usually this can be done by moving the viewpoint forward, as close as possible to the cockpit window - "sticking your cheek against it". There is no peripheral view loss in doing so. I use full zoom out, to get the biggest peripheral vision.
Try customizing your forward view. You will surely find a suitable setting where the bulky windscreen frame of the 109 obscures the view as little as possible. You might have to compromise, to get the gunsight to appear large enough for enjoyable gunnery.
Good luck. :)

You also have 2 forward views. I use one with the head position way forward for shooting.

Kratzer is right. I dont understand why the gunsite is smaller in some 109s while in others is the normal size. HTC plz fix it.
I dont think there was such a big difference, AFAIK, between the C.205 gunsite size and the G-10's, for example.

LLv34_Camouflage, read my post directly above yours again...
Hold your hand out flat in front of you at arm's length. Now do the same 3 inches from your eyes. Your FOV is the same, but what you can see has been drastically reduced.
Stupid MSN's webspace is screwing with me, so I'll have to post a pair of screens showing this when I get to work in a few.
-
Allright... here we go.
Notice that while FOV is the same (buildings are in the same places, etc.), the useful space is drastically reduced. And in any case, the uneducated can see how small that sight reticle is in the normal view, which is the point, afterall.

what hes talking about is the diffence in size between the 109f 109g2 and the 109g6 109g10v gunsite.
as far as i remember the lw revi site circle was set to 300yds for a spitfire wing span.
I doudt the the distance has changed from the pilots head to the revi in a g6/g10 so as to cause the difference in size of the gunsite.
why in default head position is the g6/g10 so much smaller then the f4/g2?
I dont "zoom in" to fire and moving the arrow keys reduces my ability to see mp guage ect...... on the g6/g10 dash.

g2 here at default head pos (hit home). I dont use this gunsite on the g2 its too big.

default head position (hit home) I use this site on the g10.

Punt! Pls consider this fix for the next patch! ;)

Aha I see now, thx Wotan. That is weird.

i belive it was "exagerated" after 1.08.
It was smaller then g2/f4 prior and I flew everyone of the 1.08 dx betas but it seemed to get smaller in 1.08 gold.
I've used the same site since I came to ah prior to 1.08 gold.
This site was fine in 1.07 and the 1.08 dx betas.
As you can see I just enlarged the "circle" so i can maintain the default head position and still see the cockpit dash.
but I dont understand why it should be "smaller".
Other then that I've adjusted.........

Also note that Wotan's pics are cropped, so the true result isn't evident there, only the size difference. Check the first pic I posted to see how truly hard it is to see... (that screen is at 1280x1024, 32bit, then resized.)
Straffo - yeah, you are right, it isn't new... I'm just new to the G6, so I never had much cause to complain before :)
Wotan, I actually find that the same sight I had used on the G6 was too large on the G2... it extended past the glass.
-
the gunsite has to be smaller as everyone knows the 109's are the easiest planes to fly and get kills with in AH :)

Btw I though it was normal as I'm not an Revi sight expert ...
Well .. in fact I'm nothing like an expert in anything except dweebery :D
<edit> and I'm good at typos too ...

Oh yeah... I'm always forgetting that. ;)

Well, and it is probably fairly close to the correct size considering the pictures I've seen of revi sights. The issue, I feel, is that it is too small within the constraints of the game, as the limited resolution causes it to be very difficult to make out.

I made this one last night, and it is better than the default.
