Lyric1 found me this La-5F scheme on the Air Aces website. This site is Russian but the Google translation of it can be found here:-

There are quite a few VVS ace aircraft schemes in here, apart from Yaks and Las there are P-39s and P-40s too. This particular La-5F can be found by clicking on "Alphabetical list of Russian aviators", then "K", then "Nikolai Kuznetsov".
Nikolai Kuznetsov flew I-16s, Hurricanes and P-40s before becoming Deputy commander of the 760th fighter regiment with the rank of Major flying La-5Fs. As I understand it, the kill table red stars represent solo kills and the red outlined stars group kills.

That came out well. Nice job.

Thanks guys. I used Paint Shop Pro to create the eagle. The photo was resized, stretched and rotated a bit to give me the outline of the bird and the cloud. These outlines were then traced and filled to give me the base layers. Then I added layers for the feathers, beak, claws, shadows, highlights etc.

Superb as always, Greebo. Gonna have to spend some time outside the '38 I see...
