Im confused.. More than usual :)
I post a purely objective post about a visit to DC which included the inauguration, no politics whatsoever and you people cant enjoy it? Some of you must bring political strife into the conversation.
It makes me sad.

It's like a rocky or icy slope that leads to a cliff. Once you get so close a few are going to fall off. You had to know that.

Anyone have a 10ft pole that they aren't using?
:D

See Rule #6

Yea I was hoping to comment on that thread (since I attended the Inauguration + live in DC) and had some quasi-intelligent commentary therein, but alas failed to get IN last time. :(
It's an unfortunate truth of the forum.
-
I made an objective post and it got muted... oh well. Politics are a no go on these boards no matter what flavoring is added..
-
I made 2 comments ealier in here and skuzzy zinged me for censoring my own statement. The G rated version of what I said is this. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that some feel the need to expound on their philosophy even though no one really asked and it has nothing to do with the objective of the thread. That's why threads get hammered.
My other statement was that a friend of mine also went to DC and even after a six hour delay due to the bus breaking down, when he finally got there he said he could never imagine that many people in the tight of an area, being that peaceful. Great experience for him.

I liked it, Silat.
Thought it was quite objective.
-
I liked it too, and as I stated before, everyones political opinions aside, that was a historic moment for many reasons, and something that, once again, whatever you believe in will be remebered as a very historic moment in time
-
It's kinda like the Olympics.
It only happens every 4-8 years.
Almost as historic as the Phillies winning the World Series, which only happens every 20 years or so.
-
I really liked it as well Silat. I think that any American that does not visit the capital area during their adult lifetime (during a large national event or not) is really missing out. Here in Arkansas, very few see the need---same for folks I know in Arizona and Nevada..."seems too far away" they say most often.
I'm, a HUGE history fan (many on the boards are), and there is history everywhere in that area (most folks never get to Gettysburg).
I knew from the get go that it was only a matter of time before a lot of the bone-heads on this forum would turn it from someone, who REALLY got a first hand chance to enjoy not only the architecture but the history and all the REAL historical places (if you didn't spend most of a day at Arlington National Cemetary...you missed out---and HAVE to go back again...finish off the day with blue crab by the dozen and corn on the cob with ice cold adult golden beverages in Bethesda) into some banned topic and spoil the thread.
Maybe if you went back and showed pictures (you DID take pictures, didn't you??) and presented the thread from an appreciation of history thread--only the bone-heads might get Skuzzified and not the whole thread.
I know I would like to see it....pictures and all.

Rox I've got a couple shots from that day...I could throw something together but I get the feeling it wouldn't be worth the effort what with all the flaming and such.
Ah well, maybe I can PM if people are really interested.

You can blame it on me. I gave the first poster a dumptruck of crap after he spewed his venom on your post. Once I'm personally involved, all the slugs on this BBS migrate to slime whatever they can...at least that's been the pattern for about a year now.
I enjoyed your post. I agree with your viewpoint, and I'm sorry if I in any way contributed to the death of your thread. I was actually surprised I didn't get skuzzified, though I couldn't figure how I could have. I think I ended up being one of the few who didn't, LOL.

Sir,
At the risk of the WOS (wrath of Skuzzy), I will try to answer in a way that is not to political and more mathematical in nature.
At a guess, 90% +/- people who where there voted 100% for the D1. That number would see 100% all good things and everything was equal. (51% or 52% overall voted D1)
The other 48% that voted R1, 90% +/- did not go there so they were not in the equation.
The aforementioned message thread is only accurate for 52% (?) of the number input and does not reflect the 48%.
48% of the input disagrees with the message.
One more thing.......IN

Proof of exacly how someone with a harmless post/thread gets it turned into meaningless mush that only encourages other bad seed to push it over the edge into a lock.
You really can't ever have anything meaningfull on these forums. These guys know exactly how to trash things---almost like "forums-taggers".
Actually, the biggest forum problem is that they keep getting away with it.

WTG! [/sarcasm]
Ending it with an IN he obviously hopes to skuzzify the thread. What a troll.
