The current terrains will not be made obsolete by this update although they will need some additional work to look their best.

my laptops better and faster than my pc, but i get this weird coloration on most of the planes, some less than others, i find that if i zoom in it sometimes goes away, but they didn't really have any advice to fix it besides "the game doesn't run well on that specific graphics card"
this comps a year old!!!

Huh? Have you tried different drivers with it? go to www.guru3d.com try diff versions. Try custom drivers if that doesn't work.

Will these be available for MA maps, too? Or is it going to be like some of the objects that were in the more recent Terrain Editor updates for SEA maps only?

Great to see progress being made. Will it now be supporting player created objects? Just like skins, it would be great to have things be submitted and then added to the terrain library.

nice, I guess even trees and other objects like hedges and houses are going to be edited somehow... if the ground below them changes... not ?

Yeah, I'd like to see something along the lines of that. I'd definately support anything that would result in more realistic changes of elevation on the terrain.

Hopefully the final version will be lighter, and compatible with current terrain in that regard. Reason is that current skins have in many cases been designed to match current terrain (mine was anyway).

Hmm, if this sim can offer better terrain. AND I do not get layed off from work this week I may have to re-sub. Untill then I will stay in IL2. But the new terrain looks great HT. Keep up the good work guys. :salute

It can. That was the point to AH2. Unfortunately, CT sorta hogged HTC's resources. New tile sets will "upgrade" the old terrains so that maybe the new map whiners will take a little break. :)

I have a rather beefy computer, and notice that AH 'stutters' whenever I get hits and it has to load a new animation..
So I am just wondering, will this befall the same fate of WW2online in that they kept the 'zones' too large and thus the small details took too long to load and thus - frustration on the users set in. Efforts to fix things resulted in an endless loop of throwing good code over bad which results in bad code after all, chasing bugs etc....not to mention the MEMORY LEAKS that game had..

Each time the graphics have been updated people complained they always do.
If things are done right and like pyro has hinted the new terrain system will be easyier to adjust to different
geology and areas,
Maybe we can get new toys like railways and road traffic, ship convoys to shoot up, bridges, rivers,bigger cities and strat targets.If it adds more then it cant be a bad step forward

It would be nice if the details in the terrain texture (e.g. roads) were to scale. It really kills immersion when your GV or plane gets on or near those details and the scale is totaly wrong.

There was someone who was working on a new look for the buildings. I did a search but could not ind what I was looking for. His buildings had peach collored roofs I think and he had made large concentrations of them. Was wondering if that would be added in any new patch.
Anyone remember who that was thats was involved with that. Checked croduh's posts, it was not him.

That was for Croduh's custom Soccer War maps. There are several custom and SEA maps in game with custom buildings.

Pyro if you could please answer this. In what way will this effect our frame rate? Graphics Look awsome but im a little worried about it. What Steps will HTC take to make this transition go smooth and inexpensive for all. Please no smart alec answers from others.

Maybe detail scaling LOD models based on altitude and graphics detail settings? The lower you get, the more polys used to render the topography?
