Title: Ty shane
Post by: Anaxogoras on January 24, 2009, 10:09:14 AM
Thank you Shane for shooting me down repeatedly last night. ;)  It's a pleasure to fight someone of such a high caliber who can push his merges so aggressively and perform such expert vertical reversals (those of you who say you can't hammerhead in AH are wrong).  As I hinted last night, there may be plenty of people who can shoot me down, but there are few who can do it so quickly! :lol  It got me to experiment with stuff that's different from my usual approach, and yeah, most of the time you showed what was wrong with my experiment in 5 seconds, but that's how you learn.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to more fights in the AvA.  It's a shame the Finnish-Russian war doesn't attract more players, but that's likely what happens when the only American aircraft present is the under-performing P-40.

The La5 and Yak-9T are just a bit tricky to learn, but they're among the best fighters in AH2 (particularly the La5).  Folks really should give them a try; and this is one of the great maps of the game.

It was fun.  For the most part I was fortunate in mirroring your merges and weaseling out of some shots. I saw you and oldman sitting up top watching me and TSO go at it in that 5 min rolling scissors (wish I filmed that one) - thx for staying out; I saw the warning to the p40, too.

I like the FinRus set up and it usually draws out the real Finns.

I still think the best film was the shortest one, but with us rolling canopy to canopy, it just looked awesome as it was occurring.

I have most of the other fights filmed too if you want them.  I only chopped throttle on one merge out of all the fights - I generally don't chop on a nose-nose merge (I might chop on a bounce or in a BnZ situation to drop behind and stick.)

Oh yeah, that was where I was hypnotized watching you through my right window and failed to throttle up in time.  I can see from your film that after stalling out I ended up in the exact opposite of direction of where I would want to be. :P

That's a real possibility.  In the 109 it's darn near impossible not to sometimes lose the bandit in the canopy framing.  A lot of the time in a lag pursuit I know where a guy is but can't see what he's doing! :lol
