Title: Pilots Log
Post by: RedTeck on January 25, 2009, 09:58:49 AM
Hopefully I'm not retarded and this feature already exists to everyone. I know CM's already have access to it.
I just like to be able to record a pilots log that is just like FSO logs. Have it record to an excel spreadsheet or maybe text file.

Not a bad idea. I'd like to have a flight log file like this in my folder.  :aok

Turns out the overhead ( as per skuzzy ) would be horrid.

But that's something different. A Pilot Log on my own computer would create no additional overhead, as no additional data has to be sent over the net. It would just generate a simple file (xml rtf .txt or whatever) where it would put simple infos already known by my computer.

Why can't it just record the highlights and save it to your local AH2 folder (like screenies and films) just for you.

ImADot Sortie
14:20 Departed field 22 in Hurricane MkI
14:28 Shot down a P38G flown by BlahBlah
14:34 Shot down Spitfire MkV flown by Noob
14:52 Landed safely at field 22

I can't see how that would increase overhead for anyone...since it would only log events for yourself and nobody else.  If a squad CO wants to create an AAR, he can have the squaddies send him the text file for compilation.

I see what you're saying Lusche..    And I may have used the term 'overhead' wrongly.  In my request it would have been some process that crunched through the log file, probably on a nightly basis, extracting the data pertaining to the desired members.  Not 'overhead' as in bandwidth or online time.

To get what ImADot wants, just being able to extract the text buffer could cover that..

I think when CT was in development they would have been constructing something similar. Of course this is just my opinion, not a fact.

Sure. :aok
