invert into visuals. While being one of the top hardcore sims, AH a bit "old". What about:
- Reflections in canopy.
- More realistic sun effects.
- Having real fires instead sparkies.
- More impresive explosions.
- A burning CV sinking slowly with an enormous smoke trail.
- Advancing with a panzer along a column of black'n burning vehicles. This implies that the AH client side keeps the destroyed vehicles/aircrafts for several minutes or seconds. For example, you shotdown a P38, the pilot bails out and the server send you the chute information while your AH client keeps the unmanned P38 burning and going down until the crash, and them keeps the rest of the aircraft over the terrain for several seconds before deleting those objects.
- Some kind of animation with the trees simulating wind.
- Some kind of animation with the sea textures near the coast simulating white crests aproaching the land.
- Much shorter but much darker night. Explosions being spotted from long distance iluminating the terrain near them.
- Dust behind your plane while flying very very low.
- The sound of your tyres while accelerating on the runaway.
- Pilot fatige with the sound of your own breathing.
- Oil in the windscreen if oil damage is taken.
- Fog.

Very good list in general!
I think my PIII800/GF2 mx could get 5max fps only with all those nice things :-)
My high five:
- Much better sun effect
- GV and low level AC dust effect
- Cockpit reflections
- wind screen damages / oil
- Pilot fatigue during veery long fights
-
Dunno if these things are really important, but to add something:
Rain
I think some of the things Mandoble specified could be optional which means that their not important for game play / strat and those with slow computers could turn them of.
BTW:
pilot fatigue??? Im exhausted enough if i fly for hours so my virtual body doesnt have to be exhausted too.

Duedel, pilot fatigue due abuse of hi-g maneouvers or efforts done to move hard control surfaces due speed, long travels have nothing to do with this kind of fatigue. More hi-g/hard controls moves -> more fatigue -> less g tolerance / less ability to move hard controls. This effect was very well simulted in Falcon.
The rest of the listed sound/graphical effects are just for game inmersion.

Only much stronger sun glare effect would be nice thing to have.
It make it matters if you attack from the sun or against the sun. Think about poor buff gunnery who try find out is there somebody "In the sun..." PINGPING BANGBANG KABOOM!!! Ch1 "Why u litle sundweep %6¤#"!!!"

While all of these suggestions are cool, I would rather have something that does not kill Frame Rate.
- more planes
- chutes a-la SWOTL (love the streamers :))
- model my crashing airplane like in Warbirds
- bridges
- longer (bigger) trains so "I" can hit the darn things

YOU sir, have the monitor I've been looking for!!
Prithee, describe for me this thing thou callest: "Night, not dark enough"! And pray; What wizardry makes such a thing possible ??
The 'Trinitron' demon? The 'Invar mask'??
Be quick in thine answer! and truthful! Lest thy rump burst into flames upon thy next bowel movement!!
