Well, at least from my experience. The Netgear router did nothing but plague our house with packet loss. To be more specific it was a WPN824v3, not sure what everyone else's experiences are, but my trusty old D-link that I revived works incredibly well compared to the other one.
Anyone else experience similar problems with their routers?

had a DG834G at home for a couple of years and it works great, have always used Netgear switches and Draytek routers for work stuff and never had problems :aok

I use Netgear with no issues, the system is WNR34B V2

I've exchanged our Netgear router at work no less than three times in the past 2 years because it just stopped working.
I've had a Netgear router at home for 4 or 5 years with no problem whatsoever.
Go figure

I used a Belkin 54G that got a STRONG wireless signal two houses down the street. The neighbor let me know about it one week after he started using my unencrypted connection. :D
Never bothered with any other routers, as that belkin does everything I need. Thankfully the signal is encrypted now. :P
