Anyone willing to make a label for a 20 oz. bottle *will actually be printed and glued to a 20oz Dr. Pepper bottle. As a part of my Marketing class we were supposed to come up with a product or improve on what's currently out there. I chose to make a new soda. Only thing I need now is a label to print out and put on it. I've tried using GIMP and Windows Paint but to no prevail I simply can't make it and make it look good. If anyone is interested and kind enough to help out a fellow AHer please reply. Thanks!

Well you could just find someone with a good AH photo of an airplane type. Say Spitfire Soda or Hellcat Soda and go from there. Far out, yes I know but it may get you to thinking.

For the best color results, make sure you're working in CMYK, not RGB.

Banshee,
just for the sake of general statement, not directed against you ;) ... just gotta rant a litle:
------
[Rant]
There is usually 10 times more money used/available for marketing than for the actual design of any product. That is why I do frown upon "taking advantage" of the designers with a "could someone who can draw/design/etc: help me a bit with this minor thing". Some of them will naturally see it as a challenge and do it for free, but it is real work they are doing.
Getting such help for free may lead into taking it as nothing difficult or demanding also in the future.... "Yeah, I can always ask some gullible artist to patch up something with minimum wages..."
Would some marketing people help me out and make a marketing plan for my product..... I've tried to make it but I just cannot.
Would some ****** come and fix my house/clean my room/ fix my car/take out my dog/give me some money/... ????
Why are the above examples often seen as rude attempts to take advantage of others, but asking someone to make some "artwork" or similar is not? I have no answer, but sadly it often seems so.
[Rant Off]

Banshee,
you may find some interested soul here, who takes up the challenge just because he is interested and gets satisfaction in doing his work. In such case, I hope you will see it as equally big gift as someone coming and putting in the ours for any other kind of work, which you pay for. :salute

"Hoca Hola" :aok

Ive got it all drawn out, but I've tried scanning it and working with it on the computer AND trying to totally recreate the label...no luck.
I think I'll just tape my hand drawn label onto the bottle

Banshee,
Just because you can come up with a good idea does not mean that you can also bring it to life.
I worked as a tool & die maker in a prototype dept. for almost 10 years. I met one engineer in that whole time that could actually use a milling machine or a lathe. Some even sucked at using AutoCad. Most of the time, ideas were brought to me after lunch, scribbled on a cocktail napkin.
"Hey Dan, can you make one of these?"
Being good at marketing and being a good artist do not necessarily go hand-in-hand. A hand sketch taped on the bottle will prpbably be good enough. I think the point here is developing your idea.
In the real world, once your ideas are approved, they would usually go to the art dept.
That being said, I'll agree with Blauk to a point. Most artists would want to charge you.
On another note................ you should have chosen a new beer :D

For those wondering, to my knowledge there is no soda named "EDGE," only a shaving cream. So, my partner and I created EDGE soda, "For those who live life on the EGDE!" Actually, come to think of it...my partner hasn't come up with anything

Go find yourself a new font at some free font website, write out the word, "EDGE," add some filters (At least I think GIMP has filters), twist around with the colors. Now you have an interesting logo.

I'm perturbed....your class is on marketing...you made a drink...the assignment is to market your product(ie find a cool way of selling it) and you're outsourcing that duty? LOL would your teacher appreciate that? Better yet, will your employers appreciate that when they find out you can't actually create any marketing ideas? Not flaming you I just don't think I have the full picture.

Wow,,, guy's . All that is being asked for is help to finesse a design which has already been generated. Also this is for educational purposes, not capital gain by the Op. This is obviously not an art class. I would help if I could Banshee, however I can't photo shop to save myself.

Ok...coming up with a product wasn't all to it Lt. Dickweed. We also have to use the 9 functions of marketing and a few other things. You DON'T know the project, only 1 or two parts about the project. I HAVE the full picture, you DON'T.

I'm a tad confused Banshee--are you looking for technical help on how to get the marketing logo/product information to actually PRINT via the programs you have available? Looking for simple, possible, speculative ideas that you can develop yourself?
Sounds like you need some technical help on getting your actual, finished product to print labels using the programs you have.
Paintshop Pro 10 (or do they already have 11 by now) is a free download with either a 30 or 45 day open free trial. It has easy to figure out "help" regarding sizing-resizing, and printing to scale.
If I can help more, pse let me know.
