Apparently caused by corroded underground nat gas pipeline.
“The concussion of the explosion almost knocked me off my feet at a quarter [of] a mile, and you could feel the heat…,” Mattox said.

Know What's Below. Call Before You Dig
All excavators must contact PA One Call at least 3 business days prior to excavation, as required by law.

I saw this thread yesterday, but only just now noticed that on the 2nd house, the brick house gets completely blown away, yet the little garage (I'm assuming without a foundation and sided with vinyl) made it out nearly unscarred. Crazy

Anyone not realize that we need to rebuild infrastructure yet? This pipe was simply old and failed.
Glad no one was hurt badly.

the shop i used to work at in blackwood nj, had the owners house right out back, about 75 yards away. he had contracted a guy to remove some stumps.
the guy comes in with his backhoe, starts digging, and POP!! the entire shop goes out.
the twit never called anyone, and dug right through a nice big bundle of wires. they came out to fix it.....they did a temporary fix, of laying a bundle out, and said they'd have a crew out in a day or two. we blocked them off where they crossed the driveway. 2 hours later the twit returns. he starts digging again, and runs over the bundle, after moving the cones, and 55 gal drums we put there.
yep....you guessed it//////no power again. :huh
