Title: Wierd text buffer stuff
Post by: stroker71 on January 29, 2009, 02:21:42 PM
Just happens once in a while.  The game runs smooth and vox works great.  But when I type in the text buffer the game shutters and a slight delay in the text buffer.  Only happens when I write something and like I said it only happens 2-3 days a month.  I was watching the variance and it jumps too.  It's not that big of a deal but anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?  I think it might be a slight connection problem since everything else runs fine.

most likely just a long ping time on that packet. I've seen it happen now and then.

That or the eventual pause of the CPU to process some other request from a background program.

So the text uses more "info" than playing the game or using vox???  I run the same processes everytime I play...just the ones I have to to keep the rig going.  It's at 23 processes now.

Not really that big of a deal really...just wondering why of all things the text be effected.  Seems to me that is the simpliest thing in the game.

I show no pocket loose at the time when it happens and pings stays the same.  But the variance jumps...wierd to me.

Wish Skuzzy would get that access code to the world so he could change it!

its not a lost packet, its a delayed one. The text you type I think has to go to the HTC servers and is then added to ALL the packets going out. When you receive yours it puts up what you typed in. So that's 2 packets, one out one back, that if either gets delayed a bit you notice the difference in the message getting posted up.
