Title: SW Precision Pro Problem - Temp Fix
Post by: leonid on October 27, 1999, 09:51:00 PM
1. Goto HTC/Aces High/settings/stick.cfg
2. Open the file.  You will see the following:

Quote
0,33472,65535,0.030000
0,32254,65535,0.040000
0,32769,65535,0.030000
0,65535,65535,0.050000
1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00
0.07,0.17,0.28,0.37,0.50,0.56,0.68,0.75,0.87,1.00
0.07,0.17,0.28,0.37,0.50,0.56,0.68,0.76,0.87,1.00
3. The first three lines are the ones that need to be modified, and they are all modified in the same way.
 a. Change the first '0' to '-5000'.
 b. Change '65535' to '70535'.
 c. You are basically adding '-5000' to the first number and '5000' to the third.
4. The modified file should now look like this:

Quote
-5000,33472,70535,0.030000
-5000,32254,70535,0.040000
-5000,32769,70535,0.030000
0,65535,65535,0.050000
1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00,1.00
0.07,0.17,0.28,0.37,0.50,0.56,0.68,0.75,0.87,1.00
0.07,0.17,0.28,0.37,0.50,0.56,0.68,0.76,0.87,1.00

With your stick.cfg file modified in this fashion, most SW should no longer spike, and the effects of the sliders will now be correct.

Thanks, Hitech.

Granger,
Sorry to hear that.  Do you set your SW as a Combatstick or a SW in Control Panel/joystick?  I use it as a SW, w/o pedals, making use of the stick twist instead.

ajusting your stick to the point that the controls barely move solves this problem, but creats another one. Your just a target drone for the guys who dont have SW sticks.

TT,
Sorry for your difficulties.  The fix presented here was in reaction to the following problem:

After moving sliders in AH's joystick scaling, the interpreted stick movement becomes skewed.  By this, I mean that after so much stick movement the translated control surface movement jumps to 100%.  Move your stick and, at first, you will see the cursor move smoothly and accordingly.  However, at a stick deflection of 45-50 degrees the cursor will jump to the edge, spiking viciously.  This spiking affect occurs only after moving the sliders from their default positions.

The fix above eliminates the spiking and allows your sliders to function as they should.  It does not appear to limit control movement to any noticable degree.  My reasoning for scaling down my stick movement was for my own preferences.

One last note: it looks like the latest drivers for SW (3.02) will also need to be DL'ed and installed for all this to work properly.
