Title: Google hacked?
Post by: Widewing on January 31, 2009, 09:06:24 AM
Did a Google search this morning... Every link directs to a page that says "Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!" There is no option to proceed to the linked page.

We've checked on several machines, from two different locations.

My regards,

Widewing

I believe it is hacked

I did a simple search and went to wikipedia since it was the first link to come up. Said this:

Google
Error

Forbidden
Your client does not have permission to get URL /interstitial?url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal from this server. (Client IP address: ********)

They also had the warning message on the search results page

Well, Google corrected the denial of service attack within 20 minutes... I'm shocked that it happened at all...

Must be fixed....did about 10 searches as a test, and all worked fine.

Well it happened again a hour or two ago. I'd have been worried only the search was for the national TV station. Which I know is only dangerous to watch, not surf. :lol

The DOS attack must still be ongoing.

Oh wow, It's gotta take a botnet the size of Storm to take out Google with a simple DDoS. I gotta hand it to the perp, he's got some big balls (and a bigger botnet).

Google says the problem was "human error."

Sounds like at least one human will be looking for work shortly....

Dunno. Maybe they'll just suspend his massage privileges, or make him eat fast food for a month.
