It's almost time...
I wouldn't mind seeing Kurt Warner win another superbowl, but I don't want to see the Steelers lose...

Hard to say. Everyone makes mistakes like that and can still come out with a win. Half time, Cards come out in the 3rd with the ball.

Cardinals had me up till the start of the game. I thought, "Hey, they actually have a chance". Being from Phoenix, remembering when they came to town and being consistently let down by this trainwreck they call a football team for years upon years; they finally got my attention. Then I tune in to find the same old salty wounds from the last 20 years. Classic Cardinals playing tonight. They couldn't complete a tackle if their lives depended on it. Oh wait, yeah, another BIG penalty. WTG Crapinals.
I hope the Steelers run the score on 'em in the 4th. Make it a blowout so the Cardinals, and their fans, never get their hopes up again for a Superbowl win from this craptastic group of morons.
:aok

QB draw? Who's genius idea was that?

Yeah, really. they still have a chance but that'd take a miracle and getting 30+ points in the 4th qtr, while the whole Steelers defense starts to suck. NEver know, look at the superbowl last year.
I went to AZ and went to the stadium this August, thought it was pretty cool since I got a hat and now I'm wearing it while watching them, now I'm thinking it's a disgrace to wear it.

first, that wasn't a TD at the end of the half. complete roadkill.

You see that? Someone told Dockett "that dude knows who stole your rims last summer". He actually completed two nice tackles.
-
ok thats it, the NFL has become worse than the NBA in roadkill refs and paid off jerks deciding the outcome by complete roadkill calls.
NFL is completely corrupt and worthless, I am turning this charade off.

I wish the announcers would hop off the Steeler's ankles for a few minutes. I'm tired of hearing how miraculous a 100 yard pick return is.

Good game but I think the NFL has some of the same officiating problems that the NHL has.

Warner is a class guy I would have liked to see the Cards win it.
Oh well another year of Steeler fan gloating.

I'm sure yo wouldn't say that when yo saw the holding on Warner when the linebacker ran for that 100yd TD.

I bet the cards wished they sat on the ball in the first half now...

how so? a rogue roughing the passer to give pit a first down and an fumble to end the game that should've been an incomplete pass to end the game?

Indeed.

How the HELL do they not go review the "fumble" on the last Arizona play of the game? It looked very close to a forward pass to me, way close enough to review it. I'm not a fan of either team, but Arizona should have had that play reviewed, and possibly another hail mary chance, and if so, it would have been 15 yards closer due to Pittsburgh's excessive celebration penalty, so around a 30 yard play, very makable.
Arizona got screwed hard by the refs in that game. And won two challenges... it almost looked like the refs got paid by someone other than the NFL.

QFT.
I think they were very bias that game. The only mercy they had were the two challenge wins.
-
Given how close the game was it's easy to point at any one thing as to why they lost. Some may blame it on the refs, but IMO you can't expect to win a game when you only show up to play in the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter showed why the Cards deserved to be there, but the Steelers final drive proves why they are the better team.
-
Wonder how much the steelers paid the officiating team. I did not watch it but my wife said the men in stripes did a terrible job.
She, like most in the US, did not care who won.
-
Steelers get a BS holding call giving the Cards a safety which keeps the Cards in the game and they still have people accusing them of paying off the refs. That holding call was very subjective, if anyone was paying off the refs it was the Cards...
-
Guys, Warner had NO control of that ball when his hand started moving forward. The Steeler helmet knocked it loose.
Unless Kurt's developed an entirely new method of passing that involved the ball being chucked as it's laying lengthways down your arm.

How about one of the steelers prety much beating a man already down. He kept at it and should have been thrown out. But like many games now it is not quality of play it is just about the money.
-

as an objective viewer, being that I'm a fan of neither team, the cards got screwed all night on calls, you're way off, as far as the refereeing went, that was all in favor of the steelers
john madden even seemed to disagree with the refs a few times
either way, cards should have gotten the ball to larry fitzgerald alot more, I know I know, he was double covered the whole game, but the 3 or so times they passed to him that didn't really seem to matter since he is a recieving god.
-

You might be right, but we'll never know because they didn't review it. It was a clear cut case of something that should have been reviewed. That's all I would have wanted. In my mind, I'm always going to asterisk this Steelers win, so the bad officiating isn't only hurting the Cards, it hurts the Steelers too. There was absolutely NO excuse to not review that play under the hood. The NFL refs failed us.

Actually, as I understand it, the call came down from the booth. That tells me that they saw pretty much the same thing I saw, and said "go ahead, no point in reviewing". Rather then waste time on yet *another* reviewed play for a rather obvious call, they went ahead with the game.
-
GO STEELERS!
-
Allmost as important as watching the game nowadays, is figuring out how your team got screwed by the refs, like the old man said after a close fist fight I had in my mid teens, the other kid didn't like it because I grabbed his hair spun him around and popped him.
He told the old guy watching the fight that he wouldn't have lost if I hadn't done that to which the wise old guy simply replied "Face it kid you lost"
-
Good teams beat the other team ...
Great teams beat the other team, the elements, the refs, the fans, and anything else that gets in the way.
All else is boo hoo bull chit.
-
GO STEELERS
-
The last call was reviewed in the booth. Warner botched it.
-
(http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g185/s0da72/104.gif)
The steelers were a much better team than the Cards and as for the refs calls go back and watch how many times Harrison was held. They could have called holding almost every play. Oh one last thing to all of you that are peeved about Harrison punching that Card player you never see the first hit just the retaliation(Harrison punching the guy)..
-
Warner is a class guy I would have liked to see the Cards win it.
Oh well another year of Steeler fan gloating.
*Gloat* *Gloat* *Gloat* *Gloat* *Gloat*
:devil
(But yeah, the refs apparently didn't go to the eye doctor before the game, AND the Cards should of kept on calling challenges on all the BS ref-calls, like they were in the first half of the game. The refs were doing bad, but why the Cards just bent over and took it from that point to the end of the game is beyond me.)
-
Disappointing first half of play, the second half was incredible. The best finish to a football game I've ever seen, at least in recent memory.
Fitzgerald, had he gotten more looks earlier on would have made a big difference in the overall scheme of the game. Just look at what happened when he finally got the ball thrown to him.
Ben Roethlisberger tried to sneak in another dirty rushing touchdown, but got cut off, thankfully. I don't understand how the Cardinals defense couldn't stop him. All night long, Ben danced around in the backfield and in the pocket, scrambling around adding another 3-5 seconds to the play. It's ridiculous, yet impressive. I don't know how he does it.
The final call is definitely controversial. Warner's arm was in motion, and regardless if the booth reviewed it or not, it wasn't a fumble. Warner is by far the best Quarterback in the Super Bowl, stats wise that is.
The Cardinals had more offense, and first downs. Their 106 yards in penalties was absurd. The penalties in the game were getting out of hand, many were outrageous.
Overall, a great game, and another "what if" to add to the Steeler's resume.
-

Yeha, the Cards D played horrible. He was running around like crazy and our guys were literally playing ring around the rosie with him.
Like I've mentioned before, it's simply luck that they won it.
-
Agreed.
I was having flashbacks of the Super Bowl in 2006, where the Seahawks got robbed out of a victory and title.

How about that blown call of roughing the passer and the holder. The dude stumbled into the holder after being tripped up at the line. Not worth a 15 yarder.

Who the winner of the super bowl was, really is a non-issue
-
To many cheap shots and dance acts on the field. I dont dig all these circus acts and showoff crapola after a play is made. Its disrespectful to the game. The game itself was kinda sloppy and a few of the zebras threw some real suspicious flags. Think about it? All those billions of $$ on that game being bet....
It doesn't matter. I love the Super Bowl and in my house its almost like a religious holiday. The game being closely contested was just a bonus. Congrats to Steeler Nation.
-
Apparently to a few of us, it isn't a non-issue.

I would say both teams played pretty evenly. The difference was the Cardinals we're out coached offensively and defensively.

The better team doesn't always win. Take a look last year. The Pats were clearly the better team, but the Giants were the better team THAT DAY.
-
Last year's Pats were not as good as the media hyped them to be. Getting to play six of their games against last years Jets, Bills and Dolphins helped out, along with a few lucky wins against the Ravens and Giants at the end of the season. Throw that team into the AFC South and they're lucky to be 12-4. The Giants truly were the better team IMO.

Very true. I proudly wear the shirt that says:
"18-0 and One GIANT loss"
-
The Steelers posted an outstanding season performance with the toughest schedule in the league, and ended up 12-4. That in itself should gain the respect of any true fan of the game, no matter what team you support. It was a great game last night and both the Cardinals and Steelers are to be congratulated.
But if small number of Card fans are going to take the old Seahawk line of 'the refs won them the game' don't expect any Steeler fan to nod (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g185/s0da72/Nod.gif) their head in agreement after having to listen to that from Seahawk fans.

uhm, did you WATCH the game, with your EYES open? Im not a fan of either team, Im a Cowboys fan, who botched their chance, but I did see ALOT of fishy calls against the Cards. Yes, the Cards sucked in the 1st half, and actually started playing in the 2nd, and I'll be the first to admin, the steelers played VERY well- very consistantly, but the one thing that gets me, above it all, is this:
I think it was the 3rd quarter, the cards get a personal foul called, so the refs give the ball and 1st down to steelers. In the 4th, the steelers get the personal foul- which if you watch, was #92 hitting that one dude in the ribs, shoving him down, then as we went to get up, knocking him over, and they only take 15 yards? What about the turner over like the cards suffered? No standards across the board?
And the whole roughing the holder--- thats an iffy one for me, if it was fake, and it could have been, it was a very very good one. But my original example really got me thinking about the refs, let alone some of the other calls.
Again, I am not a Cards or Steelers fan... :salute

Being a Cowboy fan alone makes your opinion biased against the Steelers, so Steeler fans won't put to much weight in what you saw..
;)
And yes they did botch their chances, to much missed placed faith in Romo causing false hope.
:)
-
Cardinals and Cowboys hate each other aswell. So really no bias.
-
There are questionable calls in every NFL game. In tight games like the one on sunday the losing team can ALWAYS point to a couple of non-calls or iffy calls and say they were hosed. It's the nature of the beast when you're dealing with humans. I'm a Titans fan, had a huge rivalry with the Steelers and even I can't say the Cards were hosed. The only questionable thing I saw was not reviewing Warner's last fumble, but after watching replays I don't think they would've overturned it.
