Yesterday I chewed off both wings, all stabs and some bonus extra from B-17 in one single pass with P-51, used up total of 250 rpgs from all guns.
Doesn't sound like this would really happen, thats like perhaps 80 rpg into both wings, 50 rpg into tail and rest bullets into fuselage.
Again, when I shot B-17 with 3*20mm + 2*13mm, I did use very much ammo just to chew off right wing only.
Both times made same kind of attack with same type of convergence settings.
Now I am wondering, is those .50 caliber guns upgraded too much, I agree that they were lousy in 0.36, but now they are like zipped death star. (hmm, haven't tested .303s yet in 0.37)

Fishu,
As far as I can tell, the 51 is still shootin BB's. Its the only plane I fly, and believe me, it takes many..many rounds to do any damage with the 50's. Never 1 pass kills but you have to unload tons of ammo just to kill anyone. Ask wardog, or anyone else that flyes alot of 51..I think you will have the same conclusion.

Granger: but ehh... I made few flights with P-51, mostly 3 kill sorties quickly and every time when I got target middle of my gunsight and squeezed trigger, I could had considered that target as dead target, sure didn't feel like those guns would been lousy.
Not to talk about B-17s which I tore apart mostly just by slapping them little and some extra shots for fun.
I must be having paranormal forces helping my gunnery here with P133s frame rates..

I'm not sure if the leathality of the 50's is overmodeled or if the hardness of the 17 is horribly undermodeled. My bet's on the paper mache' b17 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

with 20mms, B-17s takes some, with .50 cals, they get disassembled into pieces.
Fighters doesn't like much of .50 cals either (looks same to me to kill fighter with .50cals and 20mms, only that 20mm isnt laser gun with as many numbers as 20mm .50caliber M2..)
