Title: New JG11 Film
Post by: 33Vortex on February 04, 2009, 10:41:52 PM
It is actually in 3 parts but naturally they are supposed to be viewed as a playlist seamlessly together. You can do this by selecting all 3 files, right click the first and choose play.

Jagdgeschwader 11 - Freie Jagd
66.45 MB - JG11 25-01-2009 pt 01 (http://www.mediafire.com/?vwwmyzyjzjq)
63.81 MB - JG11 25-01-2009 pt 02 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ny1tmotymnz)
93.45 MB - JG11 25-01-2009 pt 03 (http://www.mediafire.com/?tmi2iqwmz3t)

The film is recorded directly in the game using FRAPS and Sony Vegas 8.0 for editing. Original screen resolution is 2560x1600 but taken down to ½, 1280x800 then made 1280x720 to conform with the standard widescreen format 16:9. Some visual effects have been used in this production.

Enjoy!

That night we had 2 prolonged engagements with P51s. Both times they started with the advantage but ended up shot down or running for home. I've seen a lot of P51 gangs lately in the MA running around with a lot of E, most times they seem to lack the experience to make the most of it though.

I threw your movie up on AHMD.  Very good work and very entertaining.

*The site is still needing lots of work, I'll post an update when I get a download management system going.

Thanks Fulmar, feel free to put any of my films on the AHMD site, the most recent one being 'The Miracle At Midway (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,258082.0.html)'.

I don't mean to sound "mean" because it's clear you put effort into it, but I found it rather boring. I sat through the first two and didn't bother with the third.

Sure it's all well and good to have wing v. wing engagements in historic aircraft match-ups, but there really wasn't much ACM going on. The one time a P-51 gets on your six you stick stir your arse out of the way, and I see it happen on another plane as well earlier on.

Right about there I got sick of watching it. It wasn't interesting. I watched through almost to the end of the second one, but I said "nah, no more".

Not sure I liked the "spot" filter that blurred the edges around the center, but extra points for trying new stuff. Editing was nice. Just the content that left me wanting.

Great films Vortex.  I really like the way you capture the head motion, you use  TrackIR?

Yeah TrackIR is a must for that, there's no other way (that I know of) to capture views in that way. The purpose I use this perspective is that it gets you right into the cockpit, so it's more immersive in that sense. It also cuts down production time tremendously to not have to go through the film viewer. Running the game at 2560x1600 let me capture half-res at 1280x800 which is perfect for movie editing.

Glad you like them, these three I think took about 12 hrs to complete, not including final render which was 1 hr 1½ or so.

Sent you a PM Vortex so I don't hijack your thread with geekiness :)

You put something up for review and feedback. Like it or leave it.

I don't like all videos I watch. I won't heap praise on something I feel undeserving. I don't just reply to every video clip posted with a false "great work!!" like some seem to do. In this case I found it extremely long, extremely slow, and the action that was presented wasn't very entertaining or educational.

I get that you and your squaddies enjoyed it, being a JG11 production and all. Squad pride is admirable. Others (myself included) may find it wanting. While technically well put together and well edited, I think the content just wasn't worth it.

Spoken from an analytical and aesthetic standpoint.

Krusty, clearly you are wasting your time in this thread.

If you want a better film let me suggest you make one for yourself. What I see here is just you picking a purse fight. For what? Flame warrior fame is that it? That's about as lame as it gets.

You just hit rock bottom in my book.
