With all the recent posts about the "Bish Borg" missions and such and the fact that since I generally oppose that type of play I may be POing my own countrymen I've begun to seriously consider switching sides at least for a while for the first time ever after 8 years as a Bish.
Are Bish really that easy to kill? Will my score go up? Are the people in rookdale and nitland really that much better? Are the sheep more friendly? I really want to know... should I stay or should I go?
-
I guess you missed the Knight Borg missions last night? Every country has easy kills but thats not where the fun is. Do you actually track score? :huh

Well I don't think you have to struggle with some weird LOYALTY issues enough to post it here looking for some validation!! ---> just, GO < :aok
-
Join the dark si --- errrr knights :aok
I don't think game play would change that much, to be honest. But we'd love having ya! Besides, who else can move forward AND sideways at the same time? (or backward, or any other direction...mwahaha!) Cable pullers can't even make our awesome moves.
Anyway, fly knight :aok
-
Are Bish really that easy to kill?
Yes.
Will my score go up?
Probably. Mine did ;)
Are the people in rookdale and nitland really that much better?
You will discover: For every dolt senslessly spamming the country channel , there's an exact counterpart in Nit- & Rookland. It's like someone cloned them
Are the sheep more friendly?
Not as willing as Bish sheep :uhoh
I really want to know... should I stay or should I go?
GO! You can only win... not by leaving Bish, but by getting around, flying together with other guys you have fought against countless times. Meet new people. Just get some thick skin for all the clueless "traitor! spy!" stuff
A final word: The only thing you should stay loyal to at all costs is the game and all the good people in it. Stay honest, do support the team you are on, don't take advantage of any knowledge after each switch... and you will see most players won't mind being shot down by you a few days later. Just squelch the rest

I have flown for about 3 1/2 yrs 3 of them exclusivly with the rooks. I switched just because the rooks where vulching the heck out of a field one night and had no intention of taking the base.
So I switched and upped to fight against the vulch horde. One of the funest night Ive had in a long time.
I like to fly the most disadvatage side when i get on. I just look who has the lowest numbers and switch to that side first. Then start to look for some good fights. I just ignore the horde and look for a decent fight. There is always as horde on the country side you are on can't be helps its human nature Herd mentality.
I just can't learn anything or get better by vulching fields for no reason. Once in awhile i will fly cap if they are trying to take base. Within reason.
I have had more good fights switching country and flown with some great guys. It has been lots of fun.
So I say GO.

if you have to question the fact of the staying, then you should go!
knights are always the underdog so we always have a bunch more targets to shoot at :lol
-
Just remember, spies will be shot!
-
Come on over to the Rooks Baldy. We don't have the massive squads and someone is always willing to give you a check. I wish I could get that those Sick Puppy dweebs to come over once in a while. I do miss them. :)
-
Only you can discover if you will have more fun as a knight or a rook.
Since it costs you nothing, give it a shot.
-

Reactioinst Counter-revolutionary mentality there Stodd.

Also trye; plus you get to meet the ppl you were killing before and find out what nice folks they are to boot.
-
:) Good idea to switch! If you find that the dark side is horrible, you can always switch right back. It's also a little bit fun to kill folks that you already know. :)
-
Eagle my squad and i suffered with this decision before, so we decided to try a tour and see what its like on the darkside :rofl so to speak!!. However after our tour we returned to bish and seen all the hordeing and running from a fight that was going on and collectively decided to switch back to rooks. Theres a great bunch of guys over here even though all countries suffer from some of the same ailments as the others we have yet to see a full blown 50+ horde mission and it was a welcome departure from the constant NOE horde nonsense we were used to seeing. The rooks have welcomed us with open arms and we feel that the mob contributes to the cause. We may not win every war but we sure enjoy playing the game more. :salute
However the decision is all youres my friend
-
You'll grow hooves and a tail. Don't even try.
-
I'd switch before quitting. Other countries might have the same flying style as you, but with better wingmen etc. Even go on tour for 3 months. One with knight, one with rook, and back to Bish to see which one you like better.
-
It would be nice to have ya on the Rooks for a while Bald.
-
Moot as long as i keep my hooves trimmed and my tail tucked in my pants people hardly notice :rofl
-
Give it a try Bald, you never know, you may enjoy it more - The Few switch every so often (currently Bish) and every country has welcomed us with open arms, and the fun continues.

Dooo eet man. :aok

Switch to whatever side has the fewest players. That's what I do when I go to the MA's.

When I flew nit, I used to hate fighting rooks but loved fighting bish. Rooks like to come in at 20k in their P-51s and generally fly more intelligently than the bish. Now that I'm flying rook, I don't notice much of a difference whether I'm fighting nits or bish. I'm yet to find a country where the average pilot gives as many check 6's as I do.
Anyway, go ahead and switch. After two weeks you won't miss your sheep that much.

flown in all three the last couple months, I couldn't tell a difference between the countries.

Enjoy.

The grass is always greener, it is not going to matter what county you fly in what matters is who you fly with.

Me too :)

I've fought on all three sides and I think nits are the dweebiest, just my opinion though. Bald, I suggest switching, may spice up the game a bit for ya at the same time.

I was a "loyal" knight from the time I started several years ago until last spring/summer when my squad at the time started doing tours. Myself and a couple of other friends from my old squad split off 2 weeks ago and are now rook. I have never had so much fun. I have only strapped bombs on a fighter a handful of times and have been furballing my heart out. No more NOE missions, no more orders, no more people on channel I have never heard of before. Just 5 good friends raising heck. And another good point is so far I have yet to hear any "little generals" barking orders. We flew bish the other night to fly with some friends and almost immediately was bombarded with little generals (not saying this is normal for bish). Each side has its ups and downs. But if you decide to go rooks then I won't have to worry about you shooting me down. :noid :aok
-
The thing about the guy who wants to fly at 20K, is that he can never, ever, kill the guy who wants to fly a 5K without coming down to 5K himself. This coming down will take a minute or so, giving ample warning, unless the high bandit turns himself into a lawndart.
Here's how it really is: The guy flying at 5K does not hate the guy at 20K. What people really hate is running into 9K bandits when they are at 5K, or 12K bandits when they are 8K, or 16K bandits when they are 12K, ....you get my drift here.

should I stay or should I go?
I don't care. :aok

I get LOTS more kills against bish, typically, as they always seem to be coming to MY base and whacking defenseless buildings, whereas, more often, Nits orbit their own base at cloud level and await our arrival. (Neither of these is exclusive of course, but true more often than not)
-
What people really hate is...16K bandits when they are 12K.
Ouch, you pegged me! I like to go a little higher than 10k and I'm annoyed as heck when I run into the guys at 16k. That's the great thing about flying rook. I can go in at 11k-12k and have friendlies above me, which leaves me free to ignore the 16k+ bandits and focus on the 6-8k bandits. ;)
-
Yeah, go Rook. There are a few squads looking for new members there too.
-
Rook :aok
-
Sheesh BE....just go already!!!
:rofl

I started as a Bish. In my timezone they were a much more country orientated side. The Rooks are far more seperate (in my timezone anyway) and operate as a collective group of separate squads rather than a 'country'.
This is neither good nor bad.... it just depends on what you prefer. I always found that the Bish attitude, whilst promoting 'hording' a little more does foster a more friendly atmosphere across the whole country. This is negated by the group of squaddies I have... they're all outstanding blokes and I simply do not have time to chat to too many Rooks because I'm always too busy talking watermelon with my squad.
The Rooks tend to be more 'closed' as the primary communication seems to be within squads. So if you're looking for an inviting country in Aus prime time, Rooks are inferior in this regard.
However, the Rooks (again, just in my timezone) have proven to be a much more useful group of wingmen. I can rely on Rooks to get me out of a tight spot more than I can with Bish. Perhaps this is because there are more 'fighter focused' people on the Rooks.... which means they're more useful in a dogfight. I was genuinely surprised after my first week of being a Rook (when I joined the Prawns) by the sheer amount of times I had people offer to help and actually do so. It was completely foreign to me.
Same amount of check6s.... just more Rooks are able to actually DO something after they give you a check 6.
This is not a slight or attack on the bish at all, I don't consider any country to be better or worse.... just different.
I've never spent any real time as a Knight, so i can't comment any further than to say that, typically, they prove to be a more difficult adversary as far as fighters go than the Bish.
To summarise, my conclusions about the countries in my timezone are:
-Rooks: Higher number of skilled pilots in effective squads. Poor country co-operation and less of a 'country' environment. Best place for a furballer, worst place for a base-taker.
-Bish: Friendly and willing to help the real estate cause. Lots of missions and many people willing to join them. Fewer squads with capable dogfighters/pilots.
-Knights: Generally seem to be half-way between Bish and Rooks. Decent amount of squads who work well together, slightly better country work but lacking any real strength in any particular area.... a 'jack-of-all-trades' country.

Jack of all trades, master of none...and proud of it :aok
I'd agree though for your breakdown of country tendancies. For the most part each chess piece is more or less the same, but I do notice trends in each of the three...which you accurately pointed out.
-
Only good comes from switching around abit.
I used to be a rook back in the day but switched to knits. If my squad wasnt knits id prolly switch every day just for the change of pace and the added bonus of spy whining from those that think that they actually fight and die defeding their fatherland...err chesspiece.
-
I would give it a tour Baldeagl. No harm done their. Howsoever if you so much as scratch a pixel of my plane I will hunt you down like the dirty dog you have become.
-
Only good comes from switching around abit.
This is true.
I always like it when we go back the Bish..... I get such a warm welcome.
I really enjoy flying with old squadies and flying on the wing of the guys who were there while I was learning this game. I feel like I've come a long way in the time I've spent with the Raw Prawns, so it's nice to go back and wing up with the Bish.
Flying with other countries gets you loads of friends (if you're a good bloke) and I find that it makes AH more fun fighting against people you know. It makes it a lot harder to get 'sucked into' the game and get carried away... like a lot of smack talkers do.
-
Just finished a month on the Rook side after almost 2 years as a Knight. Had a great time. Rooks were very good at communicating during a furball and I enjoyed meeting and fighting with some of the names I've been "killed" by so many times. There are lots of great people in this game and I recommend switching sides to meet some. <S> Rooks :salute
-
It's just a game. Go forth and kick ass.
-
I'm yet to find a country where the average pilot gives as many check 6's as I do.

I biatche at people that dont check six, > <--- thats a period
-
I go out of my way to not check6 people who cry and moan about it.
SA is first and foremost your responsibility. Check6s are a courtesy and a privilege, not a right.
Typically, if you give helpful check6s you will receive your fair share in return. Unless you're flying with complete muppets.
If you don't, just keep your eye out. You can't rely on others.
-
In our squad we chat and converse but when anyone is engaged all that goes to text. On squad we call the situation dynamically and briefly so everyone knows the full picture. If something attacks me I am well aware of it long before it happens and a check 6 makes me jump out of my skin. :D
-
I can name that tune in 1 note..............the clash, combat rock........whattdoi win?
-
I know it!
Alex, who is "The Clash"
Should I Stay or Should I Go? only number 1 single by the Clash released 1981 :rock
now Alex, what have I won? :rofl
it was re-released on the Combat Rock album in either 82 or 83....... for the unknowing :noid
-
BE come to the Knights. Low cost perk planes most of the time, and almost always a horde to battle somewhere.
-
The thread title came to me after just seeing the Joe Strummer documentary; Joe Strummer; Future is Unwritten. It's worth seeing if you're a Clash fan.
-
Back on topic....I recommend switching countries daily if not 2 or 3 times a day
-
I suggest you "jump" Like the Claimjumpers
Rotate every tour YOu will meet great guys on all countries and even though my starter country was bish i found the Rooks Had much more friendly People. And i tried to sort out the difference and found tht for the most part rooks were the nice guys, Nits the Fun guys and Bish the sarcastic guys
You pick
Oh i also vouch rooks Because there are a group of great guys called The Raw Prawns
