Title: Eve Online
Post by: MjTalon on February 09, 2009, 05:48:02 PM
Anyone play?

Curious if anyone here has been keeping tabs on the 6th Alliance tournament. Pretty good fights throughout the entire tourny but the one that has caught my eye ( And Laughs ) Has to be the match below:

If you're a Eve player you'll know what's being said but it doesn't take a scientist to figure out who the commentary remarks are pointed at...  :lol

I need to resub, because the little bee's of GoonSwarm, have made an epic win against the Band of Brothers alliance.  Are you in on any of that Delve action, MjTalon?  From what I can gather a full quarter of the galaxy is now up for grabs, as BoB was dismantled and defected to GoonSwarm, now Goonswarm is going to pick up stakes and squat on former BoB territory.

I need to resub as well but I've been keeping up to date with the current alliance shift. Yes i heard BoB was dismantled from the inside ( unconfirmed ) & now goonswarm is on the move to take over majority if not all of BoB's former territory. Negative on the Delve action, but i wish i was apart of it... Alot of killmails to be made.  :devil

<<active eve onliner, chilling out in Gallante space (Sinq Laison, Everyshore, Essence, Verge Vendor, Placid) and in Genesis most of the time. Home base is at Eletta, Obray, Verge Vendor (16 jumps or so from Jita). Miner/Combatant/Manufacturer/Trader/Courier etc etc. I do it all.

The whole BoB getting dismantled was a bit of a surprise, but then again i"m very excited as it could be a nice turning point in the game.

Delve is going to be a hot zone for sure in the next month or so.

Cross/Talon, my character's name is Rant Calmante (I know the first name is so fitting :)) so if you guys ever re-subscribe you guys can hit me up there.

oh and the whole Alliance Tournament was fantastic.  :aok

Played it during 1.5 years (when BoB was pwning everybody else).

At the end, it felt like a 2nd job you have to pay for :huh

Those MMORPG are a huge time sink preventing you to develop fun but useful RL skills and knowledge: while AH gives you some knowledge about flying and aerodynamics, Eve O teaches you NOTHING outside of half broken game mechanics.

I don't want to be addicted to a MMORPG ever again.

BoB is dead, victim of a massive insider takeover that unlocked the control of all of their assets, and their bank treasury was also taken.

GF is being given Delve. The battles right now are nasty.

All of my friends are Goons. :)

Gotta love those little bee's.

They don't take themselves seriously at all, unlike some of the other corps and alliances.
I mean c'mon, with helpfull articles like this: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3049420  how can you go wrong.

Update to the Delve situation.  Ex-BoB alliance, despite having 5-1 numerical superiority initially in combat, is getting slaughtered.  Saving one station while eight fall.  I'm hearing reports of 1500 ship fleet battles.  Titans caving in, in under a minute due to withering fire from the largest fleets in EvE history.

jeez... I have my mothership up north still, don't have the time to play this game anymore, working too much these days. They said not to bring anything bigger than a carrier down south for this war and I have nowhere to put the MS really so heh, yeah I'm stuck in it.

I just have to say that EVEMon is a blessing. :D

The head of BoB recently lost his fourth titan. GS and all the other alliances are still working over. Many cap ship losses so far and thousands of battleships.

If anybody is curious, a titan is worth about $1500 USD in real currency.

C-Hawks have quite a few active members in the Shadow Rising CH Corporation.

Post by: Viperius on February 18, 2009, 02:00:57 AM
Still an active player :)

Char: Viperius
Alliance: Huzzah Federation

And BoB isnt dead guys, only their alliance was closed down due to the simple and stupid gamemechanics where 1 guy was able to delete the alliance without any security measures in place like majority voting. They reformed now under the name Kenzoku.

Goons did nothing to cause this they just claimed that they were the ones responsible. Afaik it was an disgruntlet high leadership guy who was fed up with the rest of the alliance and so he closed it down :D

Actually, per the interviews, the story has a lot more to it, and The Mittani from GS is directly involved.

I miss the days when you could cash out your account and actually carry the isk around in your cargo.

Been a few years... but I played a while. I worked up to a battleship and then got bored. Came back and for a time and joined a pirate corp. That's the only way to go. It's expensive, but blowing up other people's stuff was a hoot.

Its the best part of the game.  Without having anything to lose, it would be supremely boring.  Given the myriad different ways to make a living plus the ever-present threat of getting whacked--IMO, means a great game.

Dahaha, I'm an E-Uni carebear at the moment. It's still hilarious to see the mercenary corp that wardec'd hiding like scared little girls because we raeped one of their battleships on the first day of the war. (Killboard Listing (http://killboard.eve-ivy.com/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=7384))

One whole battleship? :)

Wait until you come out with the big boys in 0.0 and eat your first doomsday in the middle of a 1500 battleship fight.. for the second or third time that day. :)

and every player in Eve should have a rifter bpo handy. It is the true ship of lemmings in any crisis  :rock

The point is that they expected a bunch of kids in a swarm of Navitas and maybe Tristan and got raeped.

A One word warning for 0.0 and 0.0 gate campers/pies.

We Have Bombs, Lots and Lots of Bombs.

First bomb takes out any and all ships cruiser class and smaller, 2nd take out anything battleship and smaller (and pods from the first bomb wave) 3rd will take out anything left over, best if you send small fleet's of 2 cloaked covert op's to attack in groups, each squeezing off 1-2 bombs before retreating. If you want to make sure no one go's anywhere or uses anything, use a void bomb or two, great to zap the cap of anything it hits, cant run.. cant shoot, cant activate any reps.. cant activate any hardeners.

Oh how the jaw's hang low.

That was his attemped "Anti-EUni" setup since we always rely on tacklers. Since we run in packs of 50 with at least 20 tacklers, this was a retarded choice. :lol

Simple frigate fights are the most fun because of the speed and absolutely necessary teamwork, you lose virtually nothing if the ship is destroyed. Using a jump clone you don't have to lose any implants either. It's all depending on what level you're playing the game though, in the 6 years I've played (of which ~3 inactive) I've accumulated more than 50 billion into my personal wallet. Most all of that is tied to assets though and not liquid cash.

It's sad how carriers have become the new standard ship for PvP ops in 0.0 space. T1 is pretty much obsolete as well. Game mechanics to make standard T1 ships and tech practical and competitive is still lacking. Besides, there still is no mechanism implemented to drain the economy of isk, making inflation of the economy a reality, which is why we see so many capital ships these days.

The implementation of the T3 craft (which are flawed in themselves) will only aggravate that issue, I'm sure.

I've just hit about 3.9 million myself...think I've been playing 12 days. Personal fleet is a Catalyst, a Navitas, an Iteron Mk III, and a shuttle. Waiting two more days for Industrial V so I can continue training for the mining barges. :lol

Sorry, thats incorrect. I'm a specialized bomber pilot and bombs do not kill cruisers with 1 hit. Only t1 frigates and maybe a low skilled destroyer will pop with 1 bomb.

2 bombs killing a bs... umm.. no. Not in a million years. a bomb thrown at a battleship that has been abandoned in space (no pilot skills boosting its defenses) will hardly lose 25% shields. (heck an abandoned Omen cruiser loses 50% shields).

Void bombs are the only useful bombs there are....and they only work on battlecruiser and smaller targets (you need 3+ voids to cap-cripple a BS +)
