The fact that this is even going to court is a joke....
Now we begin to see what it's like when there will amnesty for illegals.. :furious

capturing America, one ranch at a time.

There was a case in Detroit years ago where a drug house was burnt down. The folks had told the police countless times and finally they took matters into their own hands and burned it down. They all got off. Seems this case fits that scenario. You have a right to protect your property.
-
Those guys down there should just, "cut to the chase"...
Have the holes already dug, and not leave anyone to
tell the tale.. Thats how the southern border situation
is going to end up anyway.. Might as well just get to it..

Stories like this infuriate me to no end. If I were a legal immigrant from Mexico I would be even more livid. The fact that Billions of taxdollars go to support illegals is sickening. They should be hunted like jackrabbits in the southern deserts by anyone who wants to buy a license, they can use the license fee's to subsidise the ones who make it through.
-
Since when do illegals get civil rights...? ohh wait, Obama is trying to give terrorists at Guantanomo civil rights, so it's all ok now.
This guy is screwed if he does and screwed if he doesn't.
Turn a blind eye or provide aid, and he can get nailed for aiding illegal entry and risk destruction of his property and theft of his possesions.
Turn them in, get in trouble.
What a load of crap.
-
12,000 already handed over to border patrol. I think I'd have quit being so nice to them after a hundred or so and just started shooting.
-
Should've just shot em all & buried em in the desert. No harm, no foul.
-
Man breaks into your house. You catch him in the house and he threats you with a weapon. you shot him in the leg. he is arested a now sueing you for emotional and physical damage and wins. Yea, that Justice for you.
-
If he doesnt win then I am gonna start smashing some dome, this is just ridiculous. I am not someone who is anti imigrants, in fact I am pro amnistey for certain people, mostly a freind of mine who was admitted to USC and UCLA with a full ride but was then denied the scholarship becasue they couldnt give it to him becasue he is an illeagal alien. But I am a supporter of the fact that our founders did not design this country to aid and give money away from right doing people and justice to those who uphold justice within thier rights. This time of being 'nice' to illeagal immigrants and migrant workers is ridiculous, wait until you see my thread later, runs along the same tone.

lol... cmon PX.... let's not let fact get in the way of a little immigrant bashing now.
Who cares if they actually did the study and proved that undocumented immigrants actually contributed at +424.7 million to the state of Texas' economy, even after figuring in all the costs of healthcare expenditures, education, and incarcerating the bad apples....
95% percent of posters here would still shoot on sight, as reason and critical thinking has no place behind the trigger of a gun.

You know what, most Americans have no problem with immigrants, what we do have a problem with is the illegal immigrants. Of course were all mostly made up of immigrants, but our ancestors came here the legal way, not by bypassing boarder crossings and sneaking their way into the country.
As for this story, it's ridiculous, the guy's on his own property, and I'm sure that he probably even has signs all over his ranch stating no trespasser. Anyone in this country is allowed to make a citizens arrest, and thats what this guy was doing, making a citizens arrest on some illegal immigrants on his property.

And what about the billions that get sent back to Mexico. Money that would be better spent in our own economy. Mexico gets so much money coming back from illegals that it is a large part of their economy. That is ridiculous.
-
Actually slick its made up of legal immigrants. People who obeyed immigration laws and then integrated into the country. Nowdays illegals walk over the border, pay no taxes, suck up free services, get no car insurance, nor even a DL in most cases. And often immerse in crime.
Besides I doubt that fish cleaning stop in the North Atlantic even allows immigration. Not that anyone would want to go there anyways. In fact I'd bet most of those Northern Euro countries, the ones with lofty morality, dont allow much immigration.
When your crew first came onto IceLand, and saw nobody there, did they ever stop to wonder why?

very large part, second only to mexico's oil revenue.

even bad problem in alabama.have a rent house with a house next door that was used as a way station-one couple rented it an a bunch always there-saw numerous drug deals done-called the cops-cant do nothing cause the chief's buddy owns the house an the officer was told to back off.Called immagration told me not enough illegals there to make it worth his time-he covers so much territory he needs at least a hundred. Finally was able to get the house condemned and outa there

Stories like that make my blood boil. Mindless judges like the one that allowed this even get heard are destroying this country. Illegals already cost us enough! Around here, there have been a few shootings in public areas (restaurants, shopping centers) as well as a ton of hit-and-run accidents by illegals.....and I live in Alabama. I can't imagine what its like in border states
Can YOU imagine what you and your families' lives would be like knowing some desperate and sometimes drug-induced illegals creeping through your property almost every night?
The most apalling thing about this story is the fact that he HAS to protect himself and his property because of our systems' inaction.

Thank you Moray37, you have single handedly re-instilled my belief that some of use still have the ability to place facts over beliefs.

.....then again, think about how many stories like this you DON'T hear about.
I mean really think about it. :devil

Whether or not illegal immigrants improve the state of any entity financially should not even be considered.
What about all of the law abiding, patient immigrants that actually follow the process legally? What a slap in the face those the legal immigrants to even insinuate that 'just because some people purport to profit financially, we need to overlook the illegalities of the others.'
If I had illegal immigrants breaking into my house, I'd shoot them dead; but just the ones who were breaking into my house... And I don't reckon I'd be throwing around racial slurs & kicking the mothers & children & all the others crossing on my property who came afterward.
Absolutely the guys doing a good thing by helping to stop illegal aliens from entering. It's possible to do that without being an amazinhunk though.

There is something that I haven't seen mentioned here..
I AM AN AMERICAN... A citizen of the United States...
Guaranteed Rights and Privileges, under the sacred document,
called the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES..
Bound by oath and blood to protect and defend same..
When (the powers that be, whoever they are) freely give
my rights and privileges away to anyone on the planet...
When all they have to do, is SHOW UP!!!
YOU CHEAPEN MY CITIZENSHIP!!! That makes me FURIOUS!!!
Furious enough to KILL!!!
I've been overseas, to some of the nastier places in the world..
BELIEVE ME.. My rights as a US citizen, MEAN NOTHING over there!!!
US citizens are NOT GIVEN reciprocal treatment in foreign countries..
Often my citizenship, Makes me a TARGET!!!
ENOUGH of this BS!!!

Oh the horrible irony of this last post.
I do indeed agree that the constitution is a sacred document. I could even argue that it is simply the greatest collection of thoughts and ideas ever placed on paper by man.
However, it does not guarantee you "citizen" rights, sir
It guarantees you "human" rights, because all men are created equally.
Breaking into this country illegally is a felony, however, it is always (unless there are other circumstances) treated as a civil matter or a misdeamenor. Just like breaking into a car. Are we to start shooting people for breaking into cars? If people keep breaking into my car and my Goverment does nothign to stop it, can I then start killing people, i should hope not.
When one violates the law one should be punished. But punished in accordance with the level of crime.
I am not for allowing illegal immigrants to swarm across out border, but this idiotic hate that spews from the collective ignorace has got to stop.
Here is the link referred to above, it is the only official study into the financial effects of immigarition that I have seen. BTW, the comptroller was a REPUBLICAN.

Have you actually read it? The idea that all men are created equally is from the Declaration of Independence, which is not codified into our constitution.

The problem with that is that it refers to "the people" and not "all people", except in regards to due process. So non-citizens get due process, but none of our other rights.
-
Just like the Mexican national got his due process in Texas. Who was here illegally and participated in the gang rape and murder of two teenage girls. And was put to death as he was sentenced. Even though the Mexican government tried to get the "World Court" to lean on the US government to stop the execution. To which Texas replied to Bush and the "World Court" "NUTS!"
As for the gentleman getting shafted IMHO he took the steps he felt were necessary to protect his property, his family, and his livestock. I both applaud and commend him. I do have one question though does he need help with the security of his ranch.
-
I'm all for the ranch owner and his right to uphold the law on his land, and not turn a blind eye to it and be an accomplice.
But he sounds like he's trying to be a lone ranger or a guy who will take any excuse to scare somebody with a gun. He has a pretty big ranch, he could call the border patrol and then sit back from a safe distance and watch the immigrants as they walk along, updating the border patrol regularly until they caught up. He wouldn't have to actually confront them (risk his hide or the immigrants) unless he observed them damaging his property or until the Border Patrol shows up.
-
He wouldn't have to actually confront them (risk his hide or the immigrants) unless he observed them damaging his property or until the Border Patrol shows up.
But they have destroyed his property. Second paragraph of the article.
Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home
I can't believe the people that are actually on the side of the illegals. Don't they get the first part of what an illegal alien is? Jimminy Christmas!!!!!
-
Welcome to Estados Unidos. I still say mine the border.
-
This man is capable of stopping 12000 illegals from entering and has handed them over without harm to this point? Now some two-bit lawyer thinks he can put a stop to all that. No way will that happen. I would bet this guy is one tough bird that can handle all the criminals they throw at him and I doubt a two-bit lawyer will hold his water well enough to get anything past him.

Hunting Juan with a 12-gauge... sounds like GREAT father-son bonding!
I am 100% for it! I have no problems with LEGAL immigrants. I think however we should bring in some blond-haired blue-eyed boys from Argentina to break out the old MG-42s and sit on the border all day... a can of Budweiser for every scalp they bring back...
Don't they get the first part of what an illegal alien is? Jimminy Christmas!!!!!
One of the few things George Bush said that made me agree, "People who enter the country illegally are breaking the law.
Yes Moray, I believe in shoot-on-sight if they're on your property. Because what happens if you hesitate. If you stop and think "Maybe he's going to contribute to my economy?" and Chavez, not wanting to have himself, his wife, and his 1,300 children picked up by INS uses the gun he bought illegally, to shoot you and your family? Who cares if it's unlikely. An unfamiliar, unwelcome person on your property is a THREAT and should be treated as such. Especially some fence jumper. If they want to sneak over the border, let them do so at their own risk. If they're caught by the authorities, sure, give them a trial, it IS their right. But if they wander on to a private ranch, the owner should treat them as he sees fit, to protect himself, his investment, his family, and his country. They're NOT citizens. They have NO rights of citizens, they DO occupy needed spots in our schools and hospitals, and we should give them the ONLY thing they deserve by entering our country and leeching off of our money: A short drop and a sudden stop.
True story: I have a friend in California, flies 747-400s for Atlas Air Cargo. He had to take his mother in to the Emergency Room after she had a heart attack. There was a 2-hour wait. Fortunately she was okay, and recovered. He did notice that the 2-hour line in front of him was mostly Mexicans. He too is a die-hard anti-illegals guy, and for the hell of it, bought an INS t-shirt and went back a few days later. The room was empty in 20 minutes.

:rofl Funniest thing I have heard in a while.
I am a security guard at a meat processing and packing plant; you would be surprised how many people that work there that don't speak a word of English. I have no problem with legal immigration just a couple of things I would like to see.
1. Learn English, if you have kids teach it to them so they don't have to go to ESL classes.
2. Adapt to this country; don't expect the country to adapt to you.
3. Don't force your personal beliefs on others that don't care about or want to know about them.

So, moray is okay with illegal acts as long as it contributes to the economy? So, following his line of thinking, if a person decided to open a "heroin, crack and meth stand", and the results of that ended up contributing to the financial bottom line in a positive way of the local rehab centers, and added to the tax base, then the drug stand would be okay?
Yeah, ignore the laws of our nation if it contributes to the economy. Great idea. :huh  :furious

I work in the health care field, and in border areas this is rampant. Most of the time it is pregnant women, starting labor and crossing the border to give birth in the good 'ol US of A. See any child born in the US is automatically a citizen, and entitled to all the free handouts that the government gives to indigent citizens. I've heard of incidents where the company providing security guards for a hospital had to change their uniform, because their uniform looked too much like the INS uniform. Since it was a for profit hospital, they caved, to get more profit "patients" in.
It is poo poo, like this, that lets illegal immigrants think they can get a free pass, and we don't do anything to dissuade them of that notion, other than if you get caught we give you a pat on the head and send you back to the start, to try again tomorrow.
For the "Carebears" out there, I do understand that almost all of them[illegal immigrants] are trying for a better life, but dangit do it the legal way and I won't have a problem with anyone trying to carve out a piece of the "American Dream".

This thread is not about immigrants..... it is about illegal aliens crossing our borders. Try not to get them mixed up. Immigrants come here legally. Every study I have read says otherwise. They are an expensive detriment to our society.
As for your last line.... here in America we have the right to protect our property. Where ever your from I guess you can't own anything as most anyone else can take it away.

Wouldn't even need that... get 4 people out there...
2 sniper teams...
I think this case is complete bull. You have the right to protect property, if it goes through, appeal it to no end. Imo illegal means illegal. Government won't take care of it? Citizens time. Especially if it's going on on your turf.

I agree with this 100%. My boss (security manager) was a Mexican immigrant. And you would swear that he had lived here for all his life. He had no accent what-so-ever, and guess what, this guy was a die-hard anti-illegal saying that if he could do it, anyone could.
But why would you want to take your time to do anything?
-
Moray37 you really think that posters on here would murder someone for tresspassing......those of us that live on the border dont even shoot these people. Your full of it.
There suing for 32 million....Whats this world coming too.... I think ill depatriate and come over illegally then sue cause i got my feelings hurt when some one stopped me from tresspassing.
-
Now that sounds like a good plan man. Need any help with that FireDrgn.
-
Im thinking if we hurry we might get to join the suit thats already going my share of 32 million sweet..........
Maybe if i trip and fall and get injured while on his propertee or get sick from drinking water from his cattle tank i could get more......
Id be in the ....bling.....
SErioulsy though ive know the Barnetts since i was a kid.... It a Crying shame whats going on down here we might as well let them move the border up to CAnada.
-
Yep... lets "kill 'em and bury 'em like jack rabbits" to people... I understand that theres a lot of Jack Rabbits and what not, but still, no excuse for murder of people.
-
They are suing for 32 million because the carpetbagger trial lawyer wants to get rich. Those people wont see much of that money even if they win and they wont be any closer to being U.S. citizens.

It's not that there are a lot of them. There can be 30 trillion for all I care, as long as theyre on THEIR side of the border. It's when they cross over to leech off of our economy and waste our time with pathetic law suits like this, take funding away from students like me who have a future, a desire, and the brains to actually do something, by requiring ESL classes who get the budget that was SUPPOSED to go to helping me pay for my AP exams. They don't pay taxes, they just take the money from honest people who do.

btw when you guys so righteously say that the US is made up of "legal immigrants", presumably they all filed applications with the indiginous peoples and were approved for residency, rather than just bowling in, taking whatever land and resources they fancied and making up laws to suit themselves?
-
Yeah tell me where you live and I will try to enter and stay in your country illegally. Also I will want hand outs from the government so I can live. As far as these "anchor" babies go, let them give birth to the kid and once mother and child are safe and healthy deport them.

If there WERE no laws regarding immigration, it would have been impossible to immigrate illegally...
-
big if there, its inconceivable that settlers didnt violate a whole range of local laws, including those related to territoriality.

Holmes, would you care to find a law, ANY law, regarding immigration to the Americas? Prior to, say... 1776? After that, immigration was regulated occasionally, and there were illegals then too. In all my studies of U.S. History, there has never once been any mention of any immigration law prior to the late 1800s.
-
I'd love to, unfortunately I dont speak any of the hundreds of native american languages, and theres hardly any one left alive who does either. laws were rolled up with a story-based oral tradition, rather than written documentation, so thats going to be very tricky.

But the Natives did not have a concept of ownership of the land, and thus would not (could not) have conceived of deciding themselves who would be allowed to reside on said land. If you don't own it, how can you rule over it? So, there would be no Native American laws.
-
private ownership of land and territoriality are different things. by your logic there can never have been any disputes over territory or resources, you really believe this?
So, there would be no Native American laws.
just nonsense. unless you think laws are only valid when written in english, on paper, by white folks. in which case I guess there werent.

I'm not saying there would be no laws, but the Indians, to my knowledge, did not have the same notions regarding land that we do, which leads to the concept of immigration laws.
