Please add the ability to "set", via Campaign Manager Arena Setup, the time it takes for a destroyed vehicle to be removed from the battlefield.
I realize that this probably required a change in the way that destroyed vehicles are shown, maybe the original "blowed up real good and gone" graphic can be part of a randomized setting with "burning real good", "turret blown clear off", and possibly other mutilations such as currently occur on the new plane graphics. The randomization would allow a variety of wrecks, ensure that not every vehicle destroyed is a wreck and this is all controlled by the system makes when a vehicle is destroyed.
Obviously this would be have to be on a "timer" as it would tend to wear down the frame rates over time with a large buildup of destroyed vehicles.

I really like that idea! :aok
I know it would be a frame killer, but can you imagine seeing plumes of smoke from downed aircraft in an enviornment like Lae/Port Moresby, with the new jungle terrain and the new water?
I get the shivers just thinking about it...
-
FT would need a 1 minute timer ;) :aok

I like this idea!

Burning wrecks are on of the best things about Il-2. I like this idea.

:rock
-
good idea, wouldent be bad to extend this to airplane parts/debris too.
-
I like this idea, however at a large double spawn battle where their are 20+ from both sides spawning in constantly it could become "problematic". :aok
-
I am thinking of it's use in Special Events only.
-
I think it should be in the MA as well, why not?
Of course there could be an option to shut off wreckage if it effects people.
-
I would like to see small plane parts strewn around the countryside from downed aircraft, when I drift about in my Tiger. :)
-
That would look real nice Fencer, good thinking

It has previously been posted about but i like it :aok

TOP IDEA :aok :aok

wow, cool idea. :)
-
I think that would give a better feel of realism to the game. Which I would always love. Great idea. :)

I've always thought this would be a good thing to do if it could be implemented in a way that it wouldn't punish those with less robust systems.
:aok

How about this...and it wouldn't affect frame rates at all.
Add wreckage objects to the maps like trees, bushes, farm buildings and sheep. The map-makers could put a few of these objects around spawn points and randomly along logical flightpaths between bases. Of course to have "real ones" temporarily shown with smoke after someone dies would be icing on the cake.

Here's an idea.
1. When you are killed, your burning wreck shows up and you have a minimum of, say 15 seconds, before you can respawn.
2. If you are killed in a perkie plane or gv your respawn wait is higher..
just a thought

Sounds like a good idea, it would be cool looking.

Could also use them as random cover and concealment :aok
-
Yeah it would look cool. Maybe it can be done in a way to confuse spawn campers. :lol The obvious drawback is determining what is and is not a threat. I assume that the hulls would have to be pretty mangled or charcoaled (much like the destroyed town buildings that I can't differentiate sometimes from certain angles :uhoh ).

This might also, confuse dive bombers or defenders of towns. Is that a good thing, I don't know . Besides looking cool, it may actually become strategical. :t

It probably isn't in right now for the same reason bomb craters were removed.

When dat happen? Someone forgot to tell my graphics card, I see craters all the time. Do you mean, the craters that used to appear from GV fire...... I do think I remember that being present.... but my memories are clouded by too many memories of bikini clad beauties serving me Cervezas .... oh, dem was fantasies :uhoh
-
At first I thought this was a good idea but considering the way things go in the arena I think destroyed vehicles would make it hard to distinguish dead from living GVs and it would also act as a marker for finding hidden vehicles. I can see how that might sound to be acceptable but remember that several things from the real world already do not exist and the feature suggested by the OP would IMO only help the attackers and do nothing for the defenders.
-
My guess would be that the battlefield wrecks would be lightly smoking and on fire to help distinguish them from live tanks...
-
That will certainly effect frame rates on weaker systems.

Collidable craters. The issue was keeping track of them IIRC. At the moment craters are handled by clients. You don't see craters that happened before you showed up.

Wrecks would be smoking as was typical for recently destroyed tanks, or missing their turret (should the vehicle have one) or on fire, otherwise you might spend 15 mins hitting a dead tank.
It is not intended to help either the attacker or the defender, but to add a level of realism to the ground battle.
Also the wrecks would be on a TIMER. They would disappear after say, 15 minutes (adjustable).
This was not originally intended for the MA, as battles there can last a long time and be quite massive resulting in large frame hits in areas such as Tank Town.
Currently alot of the Special Events are starting to include more vehicle combat. Recent FSOs have done so and the next scenario "Dawn of Battle" www.ahevents.org will likewise have vehicle combat.
