Is there a trick to getting a good quality processing when uploading to youtube? I don't even get a high quality option for the videos I upload, even though they're larger (~840x520) than the standard youtube format.

Did you wait an hour after your video went live? - they do some more processing before high quality and HD versions become available.
youtube recommends you use the H.264 codec and 1280 x 720 for HD quality. Even though it looks ugly now they save your original file, so over time they can improve their engine thus making your video look better.

It is a requirement that the file is 720x1280 for it to be viewable in "HD". If it is larger that will just f things up for ya and the "HD" option will not be available.

Not sure about your question, but what is your Youtube name?

Lengro - Yep.. Still looks like junk almost 24h later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ2szDbRFPI
Vortex - Thanks, I'll try that. I'm not looking for HD, though. I just want regular high quality.
I don't have much there Ink.. Name's Shaft0. I'm still trying to get the video editing app to work. It's refusing to import anything anymore and I got some virus infection, had to reinstall windows, and still have some infected stuff coming up on virus scans now. Don't hold your breath for more vids yet :P

the two formats youtube recommends is:
640 x 480
1280 x 720
I have videos up in both those resolutions whereas the first one has the option of high quality and the second, HD.
When you are done with your virus hell :) , you should try to crop the video to 640x480, encode it with H.264 aka MPEG-4 AVC and keep original fps.

I do the highest possible quality, and can do "Watch in High Quality" for most of mine.

It's hell alright.. A "crypto" virus that encrypts what it infects, so that you lose everything it touches. Nests in the system volume info folder, like a real biological bugger nested in auxiliary cells where you can't get to it.
Trying 1280x720 right now.. Does whichever H264 substandard we use have to be kept to exact default settings, or can we change a few things like bitrate or sound settings/nosound?
How do you manipulate film speed? I captured in AHFV at 1/2 speed so that I could get a smoother capture. I'm trying to double the speed back to normal in Premiere now, but the Time Remapping filter effect doesn't seem to let me change the "100%" value. nm, found it.
