I haven't been playing a lot lately but the last few times I've logged on I looked at the map, found what I thought was going to be a good furball, then upped and flew all the way to the enemy base only to find all the cons circling in their field ack. I've seen this recently from both the Rooks and the Nits and it's been the case even when they had the numbers advantage.
Are people really that afraid to engage the enemy? Wow. Just wow.

It's because most of the action in the arenas is one side clubbing the other. There's not many fights that stay in the middle between two bases.
Do you mean a total numbers advantage or a local numbers advantage? I don't see much ack-hugging from the side that has a local numbers advantage.

Local numbers. I was at a base last night where Nits had at least a 2:1 advantage over Bish and all they did was circle in the ack.

Now that is sad.

Certainly a fair question. I would never up at a field that is capped in this way.

Quite unrelated, but still not completely off-topic I recall some memories...
Back in the day, Lusche was a fresh pilot, new to AH and just learning the game.
And then there we were, defending our field. Just outside the ack the enemy was circling and waiting for us to pick us one by one.
"Lame picktards", "Alt dweebs" "They are afraid to fight us, so they pick & vulch" - that's what I heard on vox from my fellow countrymates as we tried to use the ack umbrella to gain a bit alt, quickly forced back each time.
20 minutes later the tides had changed. Finally we broke the cap, probably because of a gap in the enemy CAP. Now we had driven them back to their own base. Now we were circling their field, staying out of ack, trying to pick & vulch them from a superior position... And now the enemy was "hiding" in the ack, trying to get some E before daring to engage us.
And what did I hear on vox, from the very same fellow pilots than before?
"Lame ack huggers!", "They are afraid to come out and fight!", "This game is going downhill, they don't even want to fight anymore!"
I learned a lot that night...

Poignant! What else really needs to be said. It's so true, and we all do it! Whether just think it, or actually say it.

that seems VERY related to me.
it's all perspective.
months ago, some of the 80th guys came to mw. they had one of our bases capped. we kept trying to up, and kept ding. then one of them came on open channel, and made a comment of how this couldn't possibly be fun for us. he stated that they were going to back off, and let us get some air under our wings.
true to his word, every one of them backed away, and waited for us about 8 or so miles from the field. they let us up to a co-alt co-e situation. THEN they proceeded to kick our arses again. :rofl
the important thing though, was that it was fun, and that single action earned them the utmost respect from me(not that that matters to anyone).
