Title: Pbly redundant but here goes
Post by: RedTeck on February 14, 2009, 03:15:07 PM
A mechanism to keep the same horrible map from being in both LW arenas at the same time.

When the war is won, don't reset the countries to different areas until the arena resets.

Also, if someone at HT could accidentally delete all record of Trinity, I will buy them a case of beer. :)

Trinity if you mean the one with the 20k mountains surrounding TT is an amazing map and loads of fun!  :aok

SOK...if someone at HTC could delete all record of your account...I would by them a case of scotch (trust me..much more effective than beer :)).

Trinity is worth having if only for that bowl around A1. I'm biased cause the tiles are the same on every single map, and look very strange on the 30k mountain range tops, but when Trinity came out it was very different and really beautiful as any other scenery in the game.  I think it's Mitsu that posted a screenshot of it for those unable to play when it was first online, with a P51D sitting on the ground and one of those huge mountains in the back.

Ok....dealing with a couple of myths....

1. There are no 30k mountains on the Trinity map. If I remember correctly, the highest peaks are about 24k.

2. If you can find one of the passes, the max alt to enter TT is about 18.5k.

The original tiles used were photo-real (you shoulda seen those mountains..they were sweet). HT didn't like them so he had his folks make a new set (I think it was Nate). The dramatic appearance of the map will be enhanced with new tiles. I'm looking forward to seeing it. :)

Yes, I've noticed that. Sad really. Even I was entertained GV'ing there.  :frown:

Ever since they returned Trinity to the rotation, I've been wondering how to get TT going again.  Maybe I am not so smart, because I haven't figured out how yet.

SMPizza is my favorite map. Great fights to be had in the valleys.

I was always particular to the fights to be had at A1 on Lake Uterus.

On Friday Trinity was in both LW arenas and in Orange rooks had taken it all. I went up and killed the ack and dar at one while also attacking a second field and a squaddie retook the vbase. Briefly the bish tried to take a second vbase with and then quit. It seemed like there wasnt any interest because of the big missions running at that time.

Rooks held enough fields surrounding TT to keep knights out anyway.

30k, 24k, they're both way up there in the clouds, as far as esthetics are concerned.  That's what I meant.

No biggy. I often get grief for putting "30k mountains in a map".  :D

It's gonna be nice to have a variety of good tiles again. Thanks for your work NB.

Thanks for your work NB.

It was years ago and because of the new graphics engine, I can't do anything with the map. In truth, I simply don't have the patience to re-learn how to use the terrain editor or the tile editor. Maybe some day (prolly not :)).

Is there a way to use 3DS Max to make maps? If so GMax would be a shortcut and easier to use being closer to an industry standard.
