Here's some more from the fighting over A110
Bigrat ran in to 68Slickjnr and myself. He tried hard but once both of us were on his tail, there was only going to be one outcome...

Actually, it was a bad night to be Russian at A110 - as Outlaw13 was no doubt thinking...

Saxman ending ausmith's night about 3 seconds before I was about to do the same thing :D Nice explosions these days.

I've been enjoying a nice run of luck with my gunnery the last two frames (Bougainville Frame 3, and last night). Everything that's crossed my sights has gone boom.
:D
-
At the risk of getting my head kicked in.
As little as a year ago nobody would have bragged about burying a few enemies with overwhelming numbers in a FSO thread .
Much less posted pictures of it. Some of the pictures look straight out of the LWA... Just saying.
-
Who's bragging?
In the other thread I said I felt sorry for the defenders. The pictures are just that - pictures.
Lighten up.

I had 9-10 F4Fs against ~120 Vals in Frame 1 of Miracle at Midway. As I was told then: Everyone gets the sh*t end of the stick sometimes.

:salute guys, you both really stuck back there :aok Everytime I'd look back one of you would be 400 out, I'd get a little distance from one and the other would get 400 out.

I double-checked. We only had 8 F4Fs.

I'll highlight what I don't understand.
How did you come up with these numbers?
-
Well the 8 F4Fs was easy, I know which of my guys were up.
The 120 Vals came from:
A direct count of the total number of Vals in the squadrons I could confirm were involved based on who we either shot down or were shot down by. This came to about 50-60. The other half was confirmed later on the forum by the Axis CiC for Frame I, who directly acknowledged he sent his entire force of 100-120 D3As to attack Midway.
How'd you miss that thread? It was active for most of the rest of the campaign.
Back to topic:
Lon,
You might turn icons off in film viewer when you take your screens. I find that makes for a nicer image. Also, there's a Field of View problem whenever you set the camera POV too close to the "subject" of the screenshot, and the film viewer is bugged so the FOV slider doesn't work. To get around it, don't use the Up/Down arrows to move the camera closer. Keep the camera back, and use the Zoom function instead.

these were to orders for frame 1 midway strike
"Target A1 Midway
347th FG (16-21) 68Falcon D3A1 Depart C17 (Strike Command)
357th Death Dragons (4-6) Bomber49 D3A1 Depart C17
412th Braunco Mustangs (4-6) SkatSr D3A1 Depart C17
613th SOS Pariah (4-6) 613ELD D3A1 Depart C17
9GIAP VVS RKKA (4-6) Dantoo D3A1 Depart C17
Damned SE (4-6) Drano D3A1 Depart C17
LCA (16-21) DakOne D3A1 Depart C17
Righteous Vengeance (4-6) Selino D3A1 Depart C17
The Haze (7-10) Chapel D3A1 Depart C17
VF-6 FS (7-10) Rattfink D3A1 Depart C17
VFA-169 Excaliburs (11-15) Ruger 44 D3A1 Depart C17
Become airborne from C17 Kaga and after forming up, follow the route to A1. There are no Zekes available to escort this force. It is planned to use our numbers and the superior turning characteristics of our aircraft to overwhelm local defence, which is expected to be weak. Fuel recommended 75%.
Targets are the airfield and installations on Midway. Note that the targets are spread over both islands."
this is why there were 120 planes in the air with no escort if you have everyone there without anyone extra there were supposed to be 113 vals

Nice job Lon! :salute
I like seeing the pics of those assists on my kills. :devil
:salute 13 MPG, Tac Drivers, and III/JG11 Sonderstaffel whose N1ks in the end stole our Vodka and took our Olga's.

Yep - it was a tough frame for you guys. Still, the stats say you did well - we lost half our group of 23 planes in the fighting. :salute
To be honest though, I found myself more at risk of being shot by our own guys in a horde chasing some poor Yak or LA that had got separated from his wingies. I pulled off a couple of guys because some of my own side were getting a bit too excited.
Also, where was the puffy ack coming from? Is that a feature of the bases on this map?

Yeah, where was the puffy ack coming from?! We went in noe to 108, straffed guns, then pulled up to drop hangers and puffy ack started puffing! Tuk151 13MPG

There was a city next to 108 IIRC
