I know it's much too early still, but what the hey ... I'm at work - had only four hours sleep ... when you get around to making the La-7, here's my vote, Dolgushin's aircraft!

So would we then call a squadron of them "the Red Nosed Bastards" then ?? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Pretty Leonid!! Would love to see the La-7

I could echo this request for two reasons:
1. As a famous Soviet pilot, Dolgushin's scheme should be easy to document, and;
2. The distinctive natural finish and red nose will be easy to distinguish from a distance, allowing shorter (or no) icon ranges to be used. The possibility is that it might be confused with the P51D, but as both are Allied, no problem there!
I would luuuuv an La-7!

Very nice leonid (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Nice to have somebody here to defend soviet airpower too, keep up good work !
Now You have to teach me again;
Main differences of La-5FN and La-7 ?
You ask for it ! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Nice bird. Somehow I get the feeling it will be dangerous too (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

janneh,
La-7 is basically a cleaned up version of the La-5FN. Top of nose is smooth, moving oil cooler to one of the wing roots. Wing spars made of duraluminum to save weight. Engine is same, but aerodynamic refinement and reduced weight make for a much better power loading and reduced frictional drag. La-7 was about 10mph(16kph) faster than La-5FN, but had noticably better energy retention, as well as better acceleration (could catch up with a Fw 190A in a dive). I'm assuming (hoping) that AH La-7 will have optional loadout of three B-20 20mm cannons in nose with 450 rounds total. However, normal armament was same as La-5FN. B-20 had same performance as ShVAK, but was lighter and more compact.

I wonder, if we'll get any of the "big gun" Yak 9's in AH(T,K)? You know the gun is too big for the fighter when it has a muzzle brake and you can only fire 3 rounds at a time (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
-
wow, 3x20mm in nose...
can dive with FW...
faster than La-5...
better E retention...
sounds one heck of a bird !
Looking forward to see it.

Nice peeeeture Leonid.....3 20's eh ?? I could deal with that :-)
