So you don't like escorting buffs? Than why be in the FSO?You can do anything you want in the MA.You guys ran off and left the bomber group with 10 escort. They could have been taken out because your group felt what they want is more important.Quite a good group if theres no dicipline to the point "they can just wing it"
As far as me having zero kills so far.The first frame we didn't run into very many and I was a wingman to shamus.Hes survived every round because I do my job. This round my job was to run the enemy off the bomber group and stay with em after I did.
No I don't like babysitting bombers. Why fly FSO? Because we feel like it and because I know we aren't going to have to escort every frame. We didn't run off anywhere. Like I said a few guys got tangled up with the enemy and I wasn't going to just tell the rest of the squad to leave them. IMO I could care less if the bombers had escorts and if they died or not. Like I said I don't like babysitting bombers. Id rather find a horde of red guys and kill them.
And as for your zero kills why is it that the rest of your "squad" got kills and you didn't? Hopefully we don't get stuck with the bombers again because I can tell you we will escort them until we spot the enemy then we'll go fight them. I'm not there to fly around for two hours and not find a fight I'm there to kill the enemy, and if you don't like it ask the CiC not to put your "squad" around us.

FSO is a team event. Where the action of all pilots and squads are important. It is not and never has been an event about just killing other planes or blowing things up. It has always been an event where both strides struggle to achieve their objectives more successfully than the other side.
Escort duty is an important aspect of FSO and it is the main reason why the allies basically took such a beating in frame 2. The lack of escorts led to horrendous losses among the allied bomber forces.
Escort missions main job is to get the bombers alive to target and back. Since bombers represent significant point advantage to the enemy (fighter kill worth 5 and bomber worth 15 in this FSO) and the ability to deny bombers dropping their eggs on target is an additional incentive to kill them. Meaning in an FSO setting bombers are usually the prime targets for enemy aircraft to attack. There have been even many FSOs where CiC have given instructions to ignore the fighter escort as much as possible and kill buffs.
What I am leading up to is that escorting bombers usually runs a high risk of combat action for escorts. Since the bombers for the whole frame are primary targets that the enemy wants to destroy, for points, to deny dropping bombs on their first strike, and to deny them getting home to load up again and conduct a second strike. I don't think I know of any situation or past FSO where the opposing force went .. oh their are bombers in secto 10,1,5 ... eh, ignored them. It is usually the opposite.
In addition one of the primary tactics of an opposing force it to lure away the escorts so that the bombers can be attack by other forces without escorts.
So 1) This is a team objective based event. 2) Babysitting bombers is not something I would really describe as babysitting because basically they are flying bullseyes in the mind of them enemy and guarantee action. 3) Most escorts if they stick with bombers don't need to go find a horde a red guys .. the red guys are trying to find them.
With that said I don't know what happened or to an extent care. However, I do care about that expressed attitude of:
IMO I could care less if the bombers had escorts and if they died or not.

This is a squad based event. I don't care for some of the other squads on our team and sure as hell not going to take crap from them because we would rather kill the enemy then babysit a bunch of bombers. Ki67s are very fast bombers and if played right they don't need twentyfive escorts with them the whole way. Last week we got jabo duty and did a good job at that but our idea of fun isn't escort duty. Especially when you cant actually fight the enemy. The other escorts just flew past the enemy and let them go. We fought them and stopped them from getting to their target. The bombers we were to escort did good without us so I don't see the big deal is.

Y'know Larry, you're really not going to make any friends like this. I know I don't want my squadron to share an assignment with yours now.
-
------------------> :cry <-------------- how bout you guys get bomber duty at least once! Maybe you'd see it differently!

I'm not here to make friends.

If we did I wouldn't care if the escorts left us and we got killed. Its a game and I think some people take it a little to serious.

Wow. Isnt that what I just said?

I can assure you this, it is a game and there are rules both written and implied. There are 500+ people in this arena and if any one person or squad ruins their good time they will be removed.

That's a really funny thing to say considering you're playing an MMO flight sim. You know, involving other people. There's no score to pad in the SEA, and no name in lights. If that's what you're looking for as far as I'm concerned you can go back to the Mains.
I for one don't want my squadron to have to fly with yours, and I'll be making a point of requesting this consideration from the CiCs in any FSO where our squadrons are on the same side. I don't want to be relying on someone who's going to say @#$% this and go off to do his own thing while leaving us high and dry.

...because we would rather kill the enemy then babysit a bunch of bombers.
Wow, it seems you completely miss the point of the FSO. I think it would be best for all of us who like the format of the FSO (and do our assigned duty even if we'd rather be flying some other plane/task) if you and yours would keep to the mains and stay out of the FSO. Your attitude stinks.

See Rule #4

:lol
This will wind up being a very EASY problem to fix.

Any member of the community making the decision to violate event rules will be asked to leave the event. That kind of disrespect will not be tolerated.
There are quite a number of people who work hard to provide these events and it does not take many bad eggs to ruin it for everyone.
The CM Team is well within its rights to boot anyone or any group from an event when rules of the event are being violated. It is the right thing to do.
I am locking this thread. Larry, if you and your squad do not want to respect the rules of the event, then stay out of the event. Problem solved.
