Just a reminder about the usefulness of this little bird as an advanced Fire Control for the guns. I would add this plane for this purpose, allowing the man on the cruiser's big guns to choose between standard sight or have a Storch flown to the target area, and command the guns from the plane (p.e.: feeding range and bearing inputs manually).
Cheers,

There's no real need for a plane like the Storch in AH. Use an agile fighter like the Spitfire V/Seafire II. That's what the RN used for spotting.
-
If we put it that way, neither is for a C.202, or a Zeke, or a Bf109-F4, or a Spit V ....
Like I see the Gun Control issue, you should not be able to control them while flying. Landing and full stop should be mandatory for controlling 8". And then, after bombardment, you could T/O again, back to the carrier. Only Storch should be able to take off from anywhere. Any other plane should have to T/O from rnwy. And this particular issue should be fixed irrespective of the Fi-156 one.

Pepe

Are you saying the spotting plane would have to land to direct the guns?
-
Exactly. And in a high place most likely. Thus, defenders could use straffing, panzers, etc. in killing the bugger.
If you use a fast plane to direct 8" guns, you could blow a field to bits easier than in a Lancaster. Hehehehe if you can hear the 20mm CHog whine, imagine the 8" Pony (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Thats just UNREALISTIC, and stupid.
The whole idea of a spotting plane is to fly near the target area so you can easily see how far off the rounds are landing because you are UP HIGH. Spotting is about communication and co-operation. It should be a 2 man operation - one on guns, one in the plane.
-
Well that and the fact that killshooter would murder the 8" gunner the instant a stray round landed near the Storch.
So much for your bombardment, and your score.

I think that the gunner of the 8's shoukld be able to view what the spotter is seeing then switch back to the gun view to correct his fire. Given the fact that the current sighting (map) is just about retarded and the damn grids are so big that even if the spotter tells ya what grid they are in you will never hit anything, i think the gunners should be able to view what the spotter see's.

Juzz,
Just a word to thank your kind reply. It's really appealling how illustrative about your points and manners.
You are, no doubt, both a gentleman and a conoisseur.
Cheers,
Pepe
