Title: pucker factor
Post by: SirFrancis on February 24, 2009, 10:27:09 AM
This is great stuff.  The video clips are about "pucker factor". The "pucker" refers to the intensity of sphincter contractions as a measure of anxiety/fear/terror.

But night carrier landings, even without the pitching deck, and as physiologically measured in studies, are more stressful than combat.  The U.S. Navy is the only navy in the world that even attempts to conduct night carrier operations.  That's how hazardous it is.

In the second video, the retiring "Black Aces" squadron commander, Cmdr. David Fravor, makes it look easy when his time comes.

These videos are from the recent PBS show "carrier" which was shot onboard the USS Nimitz.

Great videos...each one is about 10 minutes long...
