Can we have a fire that blinds the pilot when a fighter is set on fire? There just is nothing I can say that expresses the regret after setting fire to a 190 only to have it dive a field and gun three pilots and four acks before his wing falls off. Its not just 190s either... and the 109s should catch fire a lot more too. :D

When a plane is on fire I don't think the pilot is burning alive in it so there probably shouldn't be flames in front of him. Stop thinking about a plane on fire as a killed plane. If I see a plane on fire turning in a furball I'm taking a shot59 if I get one. Just tonight I had a 190 on my tail and two allies came in and put him in fire and immediately pulled off him. He was left to fire at me still for a good 20-30 seconds before he popped. Just pretend a plane on fire is like a radiator hit. A countdown until it is no longer flyable, but until then, it should be treated as a threat59.

Then the "you stole my kill" rants start up!!

The only way you could change this would be to enforce a tower delay after being on fire. The longer you stayed in the burner plane the longer the delay would be. That would give people an incentive to get out of that plane and into a new one.
I really just don't see it happening. Moral of the story is, if he catch's fire is no reason to stop shooting.
Lay em in there till he goes POOF!

Fife niner you noobs! :rofl Now I have to kill Grizz... :P its a matter of saving face now...
I can understand with wing fires in the B24 how you can have clear vision but the 190 and 109 and even with the P51 the pilot is sitting on the tank that is usually burning. I dont know about you but I dont shoot so good with the seat of my pants on fire.

Come get some !! ;)
Perhaps it is gamey and unrealistic that a pilot would stay in his aircraft while it is on fire but aces high is about combat more than it is about realism. It's too easy to put some planes on fire anyways. Engulfing a plane would be as productive as an insta tower kill.

guys with these tower delay ideas, nobody pays money to sit in the tower...

Look I just want to hear a user scream like... well you know the PMer... when anyone flames his plane because now it just looks so... kamikrazy... to a flamer flying around and shooting like mad in his little time remaining. Plues why do A6Ms last so much longer then the mossie or the luftplanes for example?

Realism-wise, it is silly. But realism takes a back seat to game play. Simply put, it's fun. I'm not sure what the parameters are that dictate how long a plane will be on fire for before it rips apart or explodes.

My SA is so bad that half the time I don't even realize that I am on fire.
I do though think about bailing out right away if it was the result of a decent fight or if I feel that the person that shot me deserves the kill and there are some noobs trying to claim it away from him.
Either way if a plane is on fire and is a threat to a friendly then shoot at it and let the criers :cry do what they do best. Then just tell them the next time you see a flamer on their six you will be more than happy to let them shoot at him.

We just need the pilot to black out when the A/C lights on fire, or a few seconds afterwords.
Assuming its a front engine A/C, how many cheesy holly wood ww2 movies have we seen where pilots would burn to death in the cockpits. Heck you show me anyone who's hands/neck/face/chest/arms/legs/and feet are being burned while holding onto the stick and navigating his aircraft.(If you forget how badly burns hurt, take a lighter and hold you finger over it till a blister forms.) Sure a rough and brave man could handle such pain for what,5..10 seconds, before the last thing on his mind is beating through the glass to get out, assuming the cockpit windows jammed. A fire behind the cockpit is a different story, and probably a much slower death.
Not to mention sucking oil fire smoke in a sealed cockpit, the fumes, smoke, oil, fire,HEAT.
How fire takes oxygen away, thus causing you to pass out.
What about how fire effect airflow over any given area of the A/C?
Yeah joe pilot adding this all up, lets go for that next kill.
FIRE.... BAD..... FIRE BAD!!
Sorry for the rant. :|

This is (unless I am mistaken) the first time I agree with you! :D :salute
