Movietone News coverage of the upcoming battle:  http://www.electraforge.com/brooke/misc/aces_high/tunisiaScenario.wmv

North Africa, February, 1943. After suffering numerous crushing defeats at the hands of Rommel and the Panzerarmee, the allies had finally won an important victory at El Alamein. However, now, Rommel has consolidated the Panzerarmee in Tunisia, in excellent position for resupply by air from Sicily and by sea via ports such as Tunis and Bizerte. Also, Hitler has ordered additional battle-hardened Luftwaffe units into the area, to strike a fatal blow to the allied air forces and to decimate allied forces on the ground.

The axis has at its disposal units from the Luftwaffe and the Regia Aeronautica along with the combined forces of the Deutsch-Italienische Panzerarmee, led by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel -- the Desert Fox. Their equipment includes the Bf 109G-2, FW 190A-5, Bf 109F-4, Bf 110C-4b, Ju 87D-3, Ju 88A-4, C.202, Tiger I, Panzer IV H, SdKfz 251, AA vehicle (as M16), and SdKfz 232 (as M8), and for supply purposes, the Ju 52 (as C-47) and cargo ships (CV's and DD's).

In opposition, the allies have the Western Desert Air Force; the US 12th Air Force; the British 1st and 8th Armies, led by General Bernard Montgomery; and US II Corps, led by Major General Lloyd Fredendall and then by Lieutenant General George S. Patton. Their equipment includes the P-38G, P-39D, P-40E, Hurricane IID, Spitfire V and IX, A-20A (as Boston III), B-17G, B-25C, B-26B, Boston III, Sherman M4 (as T-34/76), Sherman VC Firefly, M3, M8, and M16, and for supply purposes, cargo ships (CV's and DD's).

Armies and air forces will clash in desert warfare. There will be air combat, bombing, struggles for base capture, antishipping, ground attack, and tank battles. The fate of North Africa hangs in the balance.

Show-Up Time is 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Nice vid. :)

I'm hoping there will be a lot of interest in this scenario because whether you like air to air, air to ground, tank vs tank or flying buffs there is something for you here.

The workload on the COs (imho) will be extreme, at the very least come and see if one of them snap.  :devil

It just happens that we have a virtually identical setup in AvA this week.  You might wish to take the opportunity to practice with this plane set.

Just a note to all keep in mind what you register for is not necessarily what you will get. All it does is the give the CO and idea what some players want. So just because the plane you want is full doesn't mean you should not register as there is a chance that you may or may not be moved into that squad. Also please use the comment box! I for one look very closely at what people say using that tool and do my best to accommodate everyone to the best of my ability. Finally if you are moved from what you originally signed up for please understand that we as COs can not give everyone exactly what they want but we do our best, its just not possible for everyone to get what they want.

rgr that and its understandable. I have registered. All of the 38's are full. So I put my second choice. I just hope I get to stay on the Allied side. <S> for the hard work, this looks like it will be fun.

The only way you can transfer from allied to axis is in a body bag.

On the axis side, they can join the allies by waving a white flag during battle.  We treat our prisoners very well because WE actually follow the rules of war.

Comments only work if you register. I could not comment as I did not register since the few 38 spots are full. I understand that it takes a lot of work putting these together. As always you can't please everyone. We all still appreciate yalls hard work on the Scenarios just the same.

I unsuccessfully tried to register for this event.  After successfully entering all information required it was indicated that an email would be sent to me for finalizing the registration.  I never did receive the email; so I tried to login using my information and received notice that my registration was not complete because I had not complied with instructions in the email (which I have not received yet.)  Since I thought I might have made a typo in my email address, I redid the registration, ensuring that I typed in the correct email address but received the same negative results.  I guess the scenario is not meant for me

Guys there is plenty of time to register and get things straightened out.  Please continue to participate and give the CMs a chance.

This is a new process and there might be a few bugs which need squashed but it is a nice improvement that has been implemented.

If you did not receive an email let ForHim know and don't forget to check your spam inbox.

Cheers,

I would send a message if I knew who or what "forHim" was.  I don't understand why it is so difficult to just register for a scenario.   :frown:
