A while back I saw RV8's (or whatever those offline aircraft are) flying in game. Might have been a month or so ago. I meant to come in and ask how they got in.
Does anyone know what that was about? I killed one (felt bad about it)(no not really) but it was fun to chase.
I was wondering if this were the devs having a bit of fun at some point? I've been in many a massive game where the devs come in and toy around. Brings some personality to the game.

RV8s are enabled in the training arena, ALTHOUGH...some maps have them enabled as the mapmaker? forgets to disable them
-
Yup, default planesets are integrated into the map file, so if the map maker forgets to disable them a staff member has to go in and correct it. They usually discover it after someone posts in the Bugs forum about it.
Originally the RV8 was a test platform for the physics engine since HiTech flies an RV8. He could compare the real performance with the game's. It was later modified with twin 30mm gatlings as an Evil Con Mishun. Later the original model was unlocked at player's request.
