Just wanted to share this...
My folks' neighbor, who is a retired Air Force Fighter Pilot (F-86, F-15s among others) has finally recieved his Newport 28. It's a Kit plane, now available I believe, that is of the same dementions of the French Newport Fighter. He had his built and is one of the first Kits built of its kind... WWI musta sucked, because most of the control surfaces (Elevator, rudder, etc) look like speed brakes. Not much rudder either. Man how far we've come...
It's a single seat, and has an Australian built 7 Cyl radial engine. It pumps 110 HP and cruises around 90 knts... Here's some pics:

Dang they had GPS in WWI :D
-
GPS kills it :frown:
-
Needs guns too. Imagine how fun strafing the neighbors' sheep would be.
-
is that his own private hanger on his property?
-
I'm betting it's a smaller scale replica. Any link to the kit company?
Either way, a very cool plane. I want one.

No doubt. If you're going to build it, build it to the original specs. Nothing more distracting that a vintage-style plane with modern instruments.

He's getting the guns Monday; it'll be propane propellant gun that sounds like the real thing, and basically shoots short flames & smoke.
is that his own private hanger on his property?
Yes sir - It's an aviation community
-
I was kidding about the guns, so that's sweet that he's doing it, even if they are fake. His own hanger on his property? Now that BIG PIMPIN baby! :aok

Just as a point of order, its a replica of a Nieuport, not a 'Newport'
I'm betting it's a smaller scale replica.
If looks pretty close to full size to me. Very cool.
-
Would be nice to get one. Need to find the link to the company.
-
Who did the instrument panel lay out? Looks like they were drunk.

Seems pretty much normalized to me. You must not be a pilot. <shrugs>
